Home/Daniel Larison/Bloombergs Admiration For One-Party Authoritarianism Bloombergs Admiration For One-Party Authoritarianism
Center for American Progress/Flickr FEBRUARY 18, 2020|11:14 PM DANIEL LARISON Matt Purple does a fine job summarizing whats wrong with Mike Bloomberg in a new article on the main page. This one line captures the essence of who Bloomberg is:
Its that callous indifference that makes him truly unique.
It is this same callous indifference that informs so many of his views, including his views on foreign policy. When asked about the Iraq war, he expresses no regret for supporting it. He claims that the invasion was an honest mistake instead of the massive crime that it was. Incredibly, he is even less repentant about his Iraq war boosterism than someone like Max Boot. Bloomberg previously spread the outrageous lie that the Iraq war was somehow connected to 9/11 when he said in 2004, Dont forget that the war started not very many blocks from here. He and other Iraq war supporters like him were catastrophically wrong and hundreds of thousands of people were killed, and all he can say is, I dont live in a regret world, and I didnt make the decision. His answers to a questionnaire from The New York Times on foreign policy endorsed military action in almost every scenario where it was offered as an option.
There are two statements in particular that Bloomberg has made in the past that convey both his contempt for democracy and his admiration for one-party dictatorship.

What a choice the Democrats have the Communist v. Autocrat.
I am willing to bet that Bloomberg admires the way Red China has its finger on all aspects of their economy. He probably wishes our country could operate that way.
Microtyrant is an absolute nightmare of a human being, and the Democrat Party is such a bunch of soulless whores that they would elect Genghis Kahn if they thought he could beat Trump.
I don’t see us going on like this much longer. There are some very dangerous, stupid, wicked people in this country, and they are not going to stop.
I’m no psychologist but I believe Bloomberg is a psychopath. That is not necessarily a bad thing. There are a lot of psychopaths in the world and many of them are extremely successful. Basically, if you don’t care about other people and simply focus on what is good for you 100% of the time, you can rise and be a successful politician, or successful entertainer, or successful business leader. Psychopaths are not slobbering, evil monsters. They are self-centered and driven.
But do we really want a psychopath as President? Probably not.
The little guy can’t decide if he’s a “republican” or a democRAT”. He vacillates between the two, to the extent that he should just go full UNIPARTY and be done with it.
Nice wrap.
according to the dems we already have one, so it should be no problem electing another as long as hes one of theirs
Thank you very much!
A brilliant wrap.
