One minute you are contemplating your next vacation, the next you click on Facebook and see adverts for hotels and cheap flights. Coincidence? Surely. But what about that smart speaker in your kitchen? It doesnt just play music and provide an on-demand weather forecast. It hears about the groceries that need replenishing, the cats trip to the vet, and, of course, your vacation plans.
Now imagine what such a listening device could do in the workplace. The whispered conversation about difficulties with your latest project is automatically reported to your manager. The half hour spent discussing child care arrangements is sent to Human Resources. And what about the things you dont say: the colleague you dont greet in the morning, the co-worker you never ask to join you for coffee? These non-conversations are likewise noted and filed away to be discussed at your next appraisal.
If researchers at Northeastern University have their way, one day soon we will go to work and have not only our words but our thoughts and feelings monitored and analyzed by a listening gadget just like the smart speaker in our kitchen. Associate professors Christoph Riedl and Brooke Foucault Welles are in receipt of a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to come up with just such a device. They will spend the next three years studying how teams interact with each other and with smart devices using a combination of social science theories, machine learning, and audio-visual and physiological sensors. A key aim for their final product will be to ensure the equal inclusion of all team members.

Looks like “they” are using it as both. So glad to be retired.
Statsi tactics. Statsi would be so proud of this!
Investigate all candidates particularly young particularly female particularly minority for any social media hints of radicalism.
Quite frankly I would look for older more established mature candidates, As well as young conservative or apolitical applicants for employment. of course depending on the position lots of mature people have gone back to school now and would be less trouble in the workplace
So, so pleased to be a self-employed professional who can work from home. So, so much bullshit in the modern workplace.
Always felt this was happening during my last job. The animosity from the Uber-Left Manager was palpable. Im sure this or something similar, is now being done at my former workplace.
Can it be any worse than working next to a raging feminazi? already convinced that men are brutes and waiting for an opportunity to get you fired or arrested, or both.
At least with Alexa, you can subpoena the recording and prove you’re not a Patriarchical Male Chauvinist Pig.
So glad to be retired.
__________
Me, too!!
Feminism is a major aggression; not a micro.
I am SO Glad that I am only a year away from retirement.
If business doesnt implement this voluntary they will be forced to do so by court rulings.
Once this out there the working environment will become so sterile that thx 138 will become reality.
People in the workplace will by; necessity become wooden, lifeless, antiseptic, drudgery.
Humorous banter will be illegal.
This would be acceptable to monitor a missile crew’s conversations at an ICBM launch site, but extreme overkill for workplace conversations. I’d pretty much quit if monitoring was put in place.
The crew I worked with would probably be jailed in today’s environment. LOL!
Big Sister is watching you.
A composite image of the Squad, Hillary Clinton, and Elizabeth Warren.
Leftist women scare me. Groups of women locked into group think are terrifying. Each one goes farther than the other to agree with nutty, “compassionate,” nutty-nanny ideas to curry favor and establish pecking order credentials. Look at Warren. She’s daft.
Look at Sweden. Look at what is happening in Finland. Look at wherever these women take over. Germany is going the way of Sweden under Merkel and her gang.
I quit my last job because I had Chinese idiot overlords trying to track me on my phone from Los Angeles questioning where I was going and what I was doing
I’d love to hear more info on that one....was this on a business phone but tracking you even on your free time?
Ping.
