Audio of Mike Bloomberg's 2015 speech at the Aspen Institute has gone viral. In his talk, the former New York Mayor who's now running for the Democrat presidential nomination, says that "you can just Xerox (copy)" the description of the murderers and their victims (male, minorities, ages 16-25) and hand it over to the cops. As is always the case with Bloomberg, he had the video of the speech blocked. Sadly for him, however, there are people who have the audio recording.
"95 percent of your murders -- murderers and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take the description, Xerox it and pass out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, sixteen to twenty-five. That's true in New York, that's true in virtually every city," Bloomberg said.
"And that's where the real crime is," the man who's running for the nomination of the supposedly anti-racist Democrat party went on to say. "You've got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed. You want to spend the money on a lot of cops on the streets." Once you've got more cops, he argued, you have to "put the cops where the crime is, which means in minority neighborhoods."
Bloomberg even responded to those who'd pull the race card on him. "One of the unintended consequences is people say, 'Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana that are all minorities.' Yes, that's true. Why? Because we put all the cops in minority neighborhoods. Yes, that's true. Why do we do it? Because that's where all the crime is."

For the nation as a whole, blacks do 51% of all homicides, being 13% of the population.
In NYC’s demographics, the statement is likely pretty close.
This quote is a beauty:

Responding to the comments, Stu Loeser, the former mayor’s spokesman, told Newsday in 2015 that Bloomberg made the same kind of remarks while in office, defending the provocative statements as “indisputable, unfortunate facts.”
“As he said hundreds of times, we need common-sense gun laws in Washington and policing focused on high-crime areas to stop them from getting killed,” Loeser said in a statement at the time.
Before officially launching his run for the White House, Bloomberg delivered a surprising about-face and apologized for his support of stop and frisk.
“I can’t change history. History, today, I want you to know that I realize back then, I was wrong,” Bloomberg said in November.

If the statistics back up the claim it’s not racist it’s fact. I don’t know what the nyc stats were at the time he gave that speech but I know nationally as far as arrests blacks are 53% of murder suspects arrested vs about 44% for white..
So it’s definitley way higher proportionally given blacks are something like 13% of thr population.. but it’s nowhere near the 95% that Bloomberg claimed.
I am sure in the city the black rate is higher just like in the rural areas it’s disproportionally higher for whites...
Bloomberg sadly isn’t likely going to find statistics to back up his hyperbole..
Proving that being wealthy depends a lot on luck.
Looking at the statement as he made it invites dissecting who is a minority. He would have been correct and just as accurate to have said 95% of these murderers are Democrats or potential voters in the Democrat demographic.
With the discussion turned in this direction, the next step would be to point out that subtracting the gun crimes committed in Democrat controlled cities from the US overall crime statistics would lower the US rates to those of Europe.
The problem is not minorities, the problem is Democrats.

I think I heard Schiff characterize the Bloomberg tape as mini mike suggesting “round them up”.
He is right, but the left will hate him for saying it, he will apologize and they will still hate him.
I agree with this statement, but I still would never vote for mini-mike.
As I understand, nationionally 3% of the population - black males in that age group - commit about 45-48% of murders. Hispanics overall commit about 25-30% (The numbers aren’t at hand, and you have to be careful, because FBI stats classify Hispanics as White if they are murderers, and Hispanics if they are victims).
That still doesn’t get you near 95%, but NYC has some very high numbers that are different from the US as a whole.
Giuliani’s policies saved more black lives from murder in his first term than the US lost in Iraq and Afghanistan combined under Bush (I haven’t gone back and refigured, it may be total).
I wonder if Hillary or Bernie is behind this? Bernie has the most to gain at this point, but it seems more Hillary’s style.
