I second that notion.
I just emailed the White House about it. Please all do the same. It would be great to have him honored now especially by President Trump.
Most of us have dormant csncer genes that could be triggered by environmnt. My husband quit smoking 15 years ago. Worked on Wall zstreet. Was there on 911 and 10 years subsequent to 911. His mom is 93 smoked like a chimney and is still kicking.

I just got my first lung screening as a former smoker last summer. So far so good. Mild COPD. This last time quitting has been over a year. Lousy expensive habit. Husband and daughter still smoke... Knowing how hard it is, I can only encourage others. I Rush quit a very long time ago. He is one of my favorites and I hope he will get excellent and effective care. My prayers for such a decent human being.
Well, he ain’t dead yet. I’ll be sad then.

I know what you mean.. It is hard to quit. I quit 11 years ago and still every once in a while I want one! Can’t though I have COPD!!!

Not true, folks in the considered risk group are granted annual Low Level CT scans which can detect the presence of cancer in the lungs.......
He had three factors working against.
Wall Street Stress.
Smoking
And 911 environmental issues.
It really is genetic roulette. Perhaps that is one reason why it is so hard to find a cure for so many.
That ones that really get me are the kids who have to deal with illness and the concept of dying at such a young age.

My father and grandfather smoked cigars. Both died of cigar related cancer before the age of 62. Don’t smoke.

Rush smoked cigarettes..for many, many years....I'd gather an educated guess...that was the problem.
I smoke a Premium Cigar..maybe 4-5 times a year. You can't inhaled them..And I don't. I like the way they smell...and it's that "hand to mouth" thing...us humans have.
Rush smokes FAR more cigars than that.
