King Crimson is an acquired taste. Very proggy, like Hawkwind, Yes, ELP, bands like that. If you want to hear a band I’d like to see go down in a firey plane crash, it’s the Moody Blues. Hearing ‘Knights in White Satin’ makes me want to on a killing spree.
Speaking of Hawkwind, anyone who loves author Micheal Moorcock’s “Elric” saga and prog music must track down their live set called “Live Chronicles.” It’s a rock opera of the Elric saga. Absolutely amazing! Check out the song “Moonglum” on youtube to get a taste of what the whole album is like!

When something hurts my ears I have no desire to acquire a taste for it.
