“One must always include this song in a playlist: Jethro Tull - Aqualung”

A short story...

A friend is a highly acclaimed mastering engineer based in LA. I’ve provide high-end amps I imported/distributed for him to use in his mastering and he graciously included my website in the album credits.

One album he remastered was “Aqualung” but the real original studio master could not be located so the project was put on hold.

After 3-4 months, Steve got a call in the middle of the night from Ian Anderson who said (in his English accent):

“Well, I found the master tapes - they were in my garage all this time”.

So the tapes were expressed to Steve and, amazingly, were in good shape....except for a short portion 90 seconds into of “Aqualung” where the tape began stretching. Steve’s only option was to splice a small section from a backup copy and...the best version of Aqualung was remastered.

Jethro Tull was my 2nd concert ever. Filmore East 1970.. I think Wishbone Ash was the opening band. My big brother and his girlfriend took me and my friends. What an experience!
