Scientists can use their knowledge of climate to make forecasts of climate conditional on CO2 levels. It is not their place to dictate what if anything should be done about climate change.

Almost all future population growth is expected to come from Africa, since that is where fertility is still much higher than replacement level. True story. A former classmate of mine (nice girl, but ditzy) joined the Peace Corps shortly after graduation and eventually got into AID, the high paying bureaucratic version. One of their projects was to distribute thousands upon thousands of condoms to remote African villages. They thought the project was a resounding success with young African females snapping them up as quickly as they could be offered.

Then they found out the reason for the popularity-- they could hold a lot of water and be safely transported in buckets from the community well to their scattered rural homes without much water being lost in the process. It is not that they were ignorant of the intended use, but they had found a more valuable use.
