Be careful on your drinking. On NCL Breakaway right this minute and each drink with their package they add a 20% gratuity at sea. When in a US port they add the local sales tax and the gratuity. So at least for NCL it’s not an all inclusive drink package. Seems they nickel and dime all along the way. Back to Carnival for us. My kids like it better and far more organized
We missed 2 ports, one due to TS Karen. Ended up staying in San Juan overnight. Everyone still had to be on board for some reason at 11:30pm, then had the day to explore San Juan. The port we skipped was St. Thomas, the one I really wanted to see. Then we went to Tortola. Had a nice time there visiting the Virgin Gorda Baths. Ended up having to skip the last port Nassau. Not to bummed about that as we have been there so many times.
Ncl gave us our port taxes back and 100 onboard credit. In addition to that a 20% discount on the next NCL cruise.
Lots.
Avoid all contests especially if it involves a stage.
Is his sidekick Brian still with him?
Yup! And the show is the LONGEST running radio show of any kind in Florida. 42 years and counting.
My drink suggestion: stay away from the railings.
Stopping the ship to fish you out of the water tends to get your fellow cruisers really peeved.
Okay but give me a brand name.
I have heard that complaint about different ships. It can vary.
Some ships won't pour doubles and some will.
For example you can order a pina colada wih a rum floater and get it , and some ships don't want to pour it, since it is a double.

Bottoms Up!
Smaller, specialty makers like Red Breast, Tullamore DEW, Dead Rabbitt, Slane, and others are also good, if often pricey and with unique flavor profiles. I know of someone who, as a gift to a friend, brought a costly and hard to get specialty bottle of Red Breast to a small holiday gathering of pols with Irish heritage. By the end of the evening, the bottle was almost drained.
My advice is to start with standard blends from Bushmill's or Jameson and then sample other marks and blends if you want to explore.
Powers, if they have it. Bushmill and Jameson are okay but Powers is more flavorful. it used to be inexpensive until it caught on that it was a bargain.
“More concerned with hand washing than guest comfort.”
Yeah, afraid of pax like me getting sick and vowing never again. On Explorer of the Seas some Malay gal is at the dining saloon entrance with a huge bottle of hand san going “Washee, washee! Happee, happee!” (squirt, squirt).
On Hilton Head Island right now. Drove here in four hours. Come and go as we please; beach, bicyling, walking, restaurants galore, and most of all, freedom.
I think we were dosed with something. If I drink too much I just get a little woozy. This time I had a very sudden blackout with no recollection between getting up to dance the Macarena and being carried back aboard the ship by a crew member.
Scary stuff.
I waited until they opened the duty free shop, bought a quart of rum, emptied out my water bottles and filled them with rum, then spiked my free cokes.
Secret ingredients in piña coladas is Breyers vanilla bean ice cream.
You’re welcome
Two fingers of B & B - poured neat in a brandy snifter - after a good dinner is pleasant for me. It gives me a mellow buzz w/o being annoying. You’ll still maintain proper energy for a night of dancing, poker or pleasant conversation.
Another B & B after an hour or so is proper and advised.
Enjoy your well-deserved cruise.
After my Dad passed away I found two bottles in his globe bar that were at least fifty years old; one of Benedictine still bearing the regimental stamp of the unit he commanded in Korea, the other of B & B.
I regret not sampling both before they disappeared in the estate sale.
Appleton rum.
