Coming for your AR-15? O’Rourke scrambles Dems’ gun message

Beto O’Rourke’s “hell yes” moment at the Democrats’ presidential debate is scrambling his party’s message on guns.

The Democrats have long contended their support of gun control laws does not mean they want to take away law-abiding citizens’ firearms. But on Friday, they struggled to square that message with their presidential contender’s full-throated call on national TV for confiscating assault rifles.

“Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, and we’re not going to allow it to be used against your fellow Americans anymore,” the former Texas congressman declared during Thursday night’s debate.

O’Rourke’s hometown of El Paso was the site of a mass shooting last month that killed 22 people, and he has put the issue of gun violence at the center of his campaign effort. On Friday, his campaign hawked T-shirts emblazoned with his debate vow.

Beto should not be ignored.

He is telling us what the future will bring if the Democratic Party rules.

We may not want to hear it—but we need to pay attention anyway.

Perhaps in the next town meeting one Democrat will spill the next secret:

“We need to take guns from law abiding white people.”

_That_ is their real agenda—they just haven’t spoken the words yet.

Yes, he should be ignored. Your Republican friends are NOT going to do ANYTHING to stop him in his tracks. A lot of talk and nothing happens to stop these people. Nothing. Refute my argument. Go ahead...or shut up.

One should never ignore your enemies, especially when they tell you to your face their plans against you.

“One should never ignore your enemies, especially when they tell you to your face their plans against you.”

“Seems to me that most times a man will tell you his bad intentions if you just open yourself up and listen.” Kevin Costner in Open Range.

That’s sound advice.

If? Just keep voting GOP and you will get California guns laws sooner or later.

Here is a refutation:

In 1986, there was one state with Constitutional Carry, Vermont.

Now there are 16, with several others considering it.

well, he may be scrambling the “message”, but he’s really saying nothing more than what they’ll ACTUALLY do!

Agreed, and yes I still try to point out that the NFA-34 is clearly unconstitutional.
Of course having been “Law” for so long very few will even think about questioning it’s validity.

We can thank the publicly funded “Schools” for this sort of stupidity.

I will never forget being told by my HS principle that I should be happy to be getting “A fine liberal education”.
He did not define liberal, and I’ve since concluded he meant socialist!
Virtually every useful bit of knowledge I have beyond basic math and reading I have learned AFTER leaving the public indoctrination centers.

The dumbing down now affects every level of our society.

As a retired journalist (advertising), I am continually dumbfounded why the NRA uses the term ‘gun violence’.

I wince at that as well, and often see that on this board. I try and do my bit, reminding those posters that they are letting the Left control the narrative. Same elsewhere.

Whenever there's an article anywhere about a violent crime, I'll use the term "auto-, "knife-", hammer-" violence as a rear-guard attempt to defuse the term.
