Back when I lived in a small town, the local lawyer had a statue of the Scales of Justice. In one side he had placed a stack of coins. In the other some rifle cartridges.

Like I have been saying all along, barr was brought in for clean-up. mcconnel was never going to allow Trump to nominate someone who would actually deliver justice. The bush-clinton-bush-obumber sequence of presidents was the end of America as we know it. If Trump had ten terms with this congress he would not be able to put the government back in the hands of the American people.

Agreed. The "justice" types are going to find some excuse to drop this. I believe there will be an additional incident or two. It is likely there will be a fire/flood or other unfortunate "accident" resulting in a loss of evidence in the case. Add to that maybe one more "accidental" or "suicide" death of a key player. Kind of depends on how much cover the FBI/DOJ wants when they drop it.

Either or both give them cover, and send a strong message to everyone else involved: keep your mouth shut, or we will shut it for you.

This is a means to silence witnesses/victims without ever having any sort of contact with them.

And you can bet your bottom dollar nobody will hear jack from the girls again.
