FR is a good site insofar as you will get feedback from conservatives of all stripes. There are many; fiscal, social, first amendment, holier than thou (and assholier than thou), religious and not. It can get spirited when anyones particular ox is gored. Keep your flame retardant underwear on and enjoy the show.

Great way to put it.
Not everyone is going to agree with you and we have been burned in the past by noobs who sound good at first and then turn.
So a noob with a great story is sometimes regarded with some suspicion.
ANY noob really needs to prove themselves and establish a reputation.
It will take time and there are some FReepers you just have to consider the source when they either get snarky or some, unfortunately, just downright nasty.
I suspect for some, it's like an initiation rite.
Don't be thin skinned and take stuff personal. Best bet is to ignore it rather than be provoked into a flame war and then getting banned.
And learn to appreciate sarcasm and satire.
