Thoughtful commentary imp. I’ve listened to him in the past with admiration - now I’ll check him out again.

I’ll give it a go

1) he actively avoids questions about God or Christ’s divinity. but I find his psychology of the Bible fascinating, as he deeply agrees with all the moral lessons of Bible stories, although in a very different light. A recent podcast interview with Bishop Robert Barron is an example of this

2/3) I agree with your comment that he seems to apply acceptance of existing hierarchy as a “conservative” trait. I understand the point he is trying to make but agree that he’s wrong if he applies to modern conservatives.

I agree with point 1. Not so much point 2.

There is a place for traditional left of center thought, though it should be pointed out that traditional left of center thought is considered right wing / racist / etc by the SJW brigade.

I’ve read both of his books and listened to several of his podcasts while exercising.

My opinion...He’s definitely in this to make money, for himself and his family. Some of his viewpoints are skewed by this; he’s more centrist/appealing to leftists and harsher to the right in order to appeal to a broader audience. That being said, I don’t think he backs off too much from what he truly believes. To dismiss him because he doesn’t fit our Christian or Conservative world view would be a mistake.

He states your actions are the true measure of what you profess to believe. Your actions should 100%, match your words. He won’t say he believes in God but always says he acts as if God exists. Draw your own conclusion.

Overall, he seems to inspire—especially younger men—to do better, to achieve more, and to choose to do the right thing in all situations. This can’t be bad...to take individual responsibility for decisions and life direction.

2.5 hour lecture. Give any section 30 minutes of undivided attention to see if it is interesting to you. Skipping around won’t make sense.

The Divinity of the Individual

Noah and the Flood

I liked this lecture. Prepare for bad things in your life. If you’re prepared properly as an individual, you may just save your family. If enough people did this, the world would be a much better place.

I’m not too concerned about whether or not I agree with him ..just glad he’s pushing back on a few of the left’s shenanigans. He’s been good for Canada and the world by stiffening some spines.

Jordan Peterson said Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh should disqualify himself. He lost me on that one.

Peterson says that he doesn’t know what the final result of pursing the good does to a person, how much it can affect you — it might be that it makes you divine. And Jesus could be divine because of his pursuit of the good. But he is hard to peg down on his religious beliefs: e.g., whether he is a Christian or not. He does believe in God and the logos; but a lot of his thoughts have more to do with the mythology and psychology of religion. The biggest conflict I find is that he is a Darwinist (man created the idea of God when they were like a tribe of chimps back in the dim mists of time), but this goes against his belief in the logos. He is skittery on the God subject but a good interview is him talking to Denis Prager about feeling uncomfortable when talking about his belief in God.

He believes that there is a place for the left in politics because traditionally they stood for equality and the little man. The right is more about freedoms. Usually there is a healthy tension between the two, where dialogue and compromise is needed. Today that is almost gone with the left’s stance against free speech and their insane radicalism. The insane radicalism of the left places Peterson on the right or far right, but he sees himself as temperamentally on the left due to his openness and creativity.

I think he thinks that right wing thought can become authoritarian, especially when hierarchies become corrupt. I would agree with him on that score because there is no political party that is not capable of corruption and abuse. The left has a thing against hierarchies because they see it strictly as a sign of power and corruption. Hierarchies are not just about power, they are also about competence. That’s Peterson’s point: hierarchies are useful tools in society. The left wants radical equality where there are no hierarchies, everything is flat, everybody is equal to everybody else in every respect. That’s no good because that implies the lowest common denominator is the only morally correct standard of measurement. If anybody strive upwards to excel they have to be smacked down to that common denominator. There you have equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity.

Good Morning my fellow Lobsters,

“I’d just like to start with a quick chat on....”
“That depends on what you mean by....”
“And if we unpack that, it gets really deep...”
“When I was studying Nietzscher, Dostievski, Jung....””
“Who knows how we think...?”

Two and a half hours later: “So the answer to your question is: I just don’t know, and who does? “

No, I’ve nothing of use to bring to this conversation...”but that depends on what you mean by useful.”

Most of Peterson’s flaws can be explained by his academic environment and being a Canadian. He simply cannot reject the Left as valid because it is dominant among his audience and his environment, and he must also pitch himself as a thoughtful critic of conservatism. Gelded he may thereby be, but Peterson is still on our side.

Like all of us,

Peterson is a work in progress and

a very interesting one at that.

Regarding his religious beliefs,

Jordan recommended watching three

interviews in a particular sequence,

here is a link to the playlist he made.

Unfortunately his wife Tammy

is batteling a rare form of liver disease.

Please keep Tammy and the entire Peterson family

in your thoughts and prayers

Jordan Peterson is a classic liberal.

What he’s showing is that classic liberals have been elbowed out of academia by the communists.

Jordan Peterson is a great voice for the right. He knows his history when it comes to the brutality of communism and other horrible socialist dictatorships, and he understands it can happen again in the west. Peterson has also said he believes in God. He questions God like all of us have done at times, whether we admit it or not. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. He doesn't take saying you believe in God lightly, and that's something I agree with 100%. It's easy to say you believe, but it's a lot harder to show that belief through your actions. I believe in God, and I consider myself a Christian, but I personally don't like most organized religion; although I have ho problem with those who do. There are a lot of people who will find God through the unconventional proselytizing of people like Jordan Peterson.

Jordan Peterson had a big impact helping me find religion. I had always said I believed in God, but I had put little thought into it. I finally hit an age where I started looking for answers, and Jordan Peterson is someone that helped me a lot. I'm still looking for answers, and I'll always be, but I have a much more informed view of my personal religious views than before. We need to remember that it's people like him that have an ability to reach people who won't listen to traditional conservatives when it comes to religion or politics. Jordan Peterson is one of many who reaches an audience that people like Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh might not be able to reach. A lot of the “alt-right” influenced younger people who considered themselves to be liberals before they heard alternative viewpoints.

Guys like Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Gavin McInnes, etc. reach audiences that many others can't, and regardless of what you may think of them personally, we should defend all of them from the authoritarian left who's doing their best to silence them. They are going after those who have learned how to use social media the best to spread their message. Alex Jones might act crazy as part of his character, but he also mixes in a lot of truth, and a lot of people find that entertaining. He was the first person I heard of who I saw moving people away the left. I only started listening to him some after he was deplatformed. He's a mix of facts and crazy talk, but I find him funny. I personally saw the change some of the people on left had before the 2016 election. I saw a lot of leftist, and former leftist, decide to vote for Trump or not vote at all, because of these alternative voices that are now being silenced.

A lot of young people are just ignorant and uninterested in politics, but they are exposed to leftist propaganda constantly without looking for it. None of us can escape all the leftist propaganda, but we have to actively seek out conservative news most of the time. The propaganda works on a lot of people, especially young people who never had a respected conservative family member or close friend. The right started reaching younger people through social media, and that's why so many are being silenced now. The change from 2016 to now is already huge, and it's getting worse. It will have an affect on all future elections. The left knows that, and that's why they immediately started censoring people on the right after Trump's victory. I think Steve Bannon understands the influence of all the different voices on the right as well as anyone, and hopefully Trump and Bannon work together for the 2020 election. I think they both put the country and winning in 2020 above any petty feud. Trump has shown he will work with people he's had bitter disputes with in the past for the good of the country.

The alt-right isn't the extreme far right fringe dominated by white supremacist, but we allowed the left to control the narrative and marginalize many of the voices associated with it. The left have attacked, and tried silencing people, only because they were influential at turning people away from the sick far left agenda. It was reaching a lot of people who couldn't be reached by the traditional right. We don't need to agree with everyone on the right, but we should be united against the communist/socialist far left. They want to disarm us for a very nefarious reasons, and history has shown what they'll do to us if we give them the chance. We can't let the left control the narrative and label us racist over every little thing. The tiny fringe of actual racist that exist are dumb attention seekers that get called out by others on the right. The left is where real racism exist.

The Nazis lost power after WW2, but communism has continued to spread. Most are smart enough to no longer call themselves communist, but that's what they are. They've infiltrated many institutions in the west, especially our education system. The people behind this movement aren't dumb, even though many of their ignorant indoctrinated pawns are. If they're all as stupid as we sometimes like to think, then we are even dumber for allowing them to attain so much control and power over our nation. We have to defeat the far left to save our country. The right needs to be united against the left, and the establishment from both parties, before we start fighting among ourselves. Getting to That day will take a lot of hard work and sacrifice, but it would be great to get back to a time where all sides love the country, and where our constitution has been restored, and is respected by everyone. I'm sorry this turned into a ranting wall of text lol.
