I watched about 15 minutes of the show, it reminded me of my 4th grade class leader election! But I also had my checkbook out and realized I was Bankrupt in the first 5 minutes after adding up all the Free Stuff they want me to Pay for.
I took a quick glance at CNN's front page earlier today, and every other headline gushes over Kamala Harris, with headlines like "Harris' attack on Joe Biden steals debate spotlight", "Kamala Harris' home run", "Watch Kamala Harris shut down fellow candidates' squabbling", "Joe Biden's campaign in turmoil after Harris attacks his record on race" etc.
It's been pretty clear for some time that the DNC powers that be do not want Biden. He doesn't satisfy the activist base who want a "woman and/or minority" candidate, and his past record of semi-moderation alienates the self-righteous "woke" types. On the other hand, Bernie and Pocahantas are too economically extreme to rake in big donations from Wall Street firms and Silicon Valley behemoths.
So who does that leave them with apart from various people polling at 1-2% Kamala Harris - the aspiring female Obama who's ten times the race-baiter than he ever was (even Obama, to my knowledge, didn't push slavery reparations).
I'm guessing that over the next few weeks, CNN, MSNBC will continue their efforts to prop up Kamala Harris and throw Biden under the bus.
If the Democrats keep propping up Kamala over Biden, that is very good news for us. Biden has some appeal in the rust-belt states that Trump won (or came close to winning) in 2016. Kamala, with her platform of slavery reparations and her strident “look at me, I’m the victim of racist and sexist white men” politics, has exactly zero chance with that voting block.
A black female is the Democrat wet dream.
I predict she will be the candidate, and she will be a formidable opponent. The media will rally behind her in a way that will make it look like they barely noticed Obama.
Kamala, tops in both of the oldest professions.
Both Obama parents and grandparents were gone before we knew very much about him. In her case Willie Brown is in his 80’s. In the Kenyans case it didn’t’t matter.
....she is ineligible
She may be and she may become of a poli powerhouse, but a large portion of the population is not going to go for this Jeckyl and Hyde infinite wellspring of outrage and victimhood coupled with her ready admission that she would be fine with being an extra-Constitutional dictator and ruling by fiat. I find her alarming in those regards, and I also get the disctinct feeling that her wildest aspirations would align closely with turning your life into a steaming pile of s**t, white boy.
She would gleefully extract her revenge on you if you’re white. And she would dedicate her life to doing so, in the name of righting all past wrongs and offering herself up as the champion of the underserved and oppressed. Of that I am perfectly certain.
She will be a much weaker candidate than Obama, even though you're right that the Democratic base will get all masturbatory over the prospect of a black female President. She needs more than the activist base to win a general election.
Even though Obama governed as a racial radical (embracing the BlackLivesMatter agenda when in office), he campaigned as a "post-racial" candidate who wanted reconciliation, not a race war. He kept his grievances to himself until setting them loose in the Oval Office, and had the political savvy not to make idiocies like reparations part of his official platform.
Kamala is so strident and hate-filled that she's incapable of putting on a reasonable facade to hide her agenda. Making racial and sexual grievances the focus of her campaign may make the base happy, but it will alienate moderate "swing voters" that Clinton and even Obama were able to attract.
And she's not going to be dropping out very soon.
But I don't think there's much real enthusiasm for her.
And she's not a "female Obama," apart from skin color, foreign family connections, and growing up abroad.
Obama could craft an image for himself - or rather his team could craft an image for him.
He was little known and people could project their fantasies on to him.
He knew how to keep quiet and how to take direction.
He could appear to be relaxed and laid-back.
Harris's record is much better known, and she has less self-control; she lashes out too much.
And the times are different: Democrats may be looking for a messiah, but the rest of the country isn't.
All this "whore" talk, though, is likely to win her support that she wouldn't otherwise have.
Can someone fact check Kamala’s claim that she was the second group of students bussed to another school? Her mother was a cancer researcher, her father was an economics professor at Stanford. For her story about bussing to be true, not sure what kind of neighborhood they lived in. I am suspicious of her claim.
like Obama only with real estrogen.
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY like a mean bitch with a chip on her shoulder.
The only reason Harris makes the second round is she is black.
After that, she’s dust.
Still debating the 1960s. Sheesh.
“Kamala is so strident and hate-filled that she’s incapable of putting on a reasonable facade to hide her agenda.”
You make good points. If this were the America of my youth, I’d say she’s toast. But it’s not. The squishy middle is easily led by the media, and either unable or unwilling to scrutinize.
My fear is that Harris will be celebrated in such a way that the average dumbed down American will feel like they are missing out if they don’t vote for her.
Regardless of her ethnic heritage, her skin is dark, so count 90% of the black vote for her.
And above all else, don’t forget, orange man bad.
Bidet will take harris out on his way down...
You would have to know the name of the school and when busing started at that particular school. I assume she lived in Berkeley and busing for racial integration started there in 1968. The high school was for the whole city/town and was considered already integrated before that, so busing applied to the lower grades.
Harris was born in 1964. Busing may already have been going on for two years when she started school in (I assume) 1970. It depends on just which school she went to (and maybe she's counting kindergarten or pre-kindergarten).
Also, she may or may not actually have been bused across town herself. If she was considered to be black and lived in a white neighborhood presumably she wouldn't have needed to be bused. But her claim to have gone to a school with a busing program is not obviously wrong.
Lets see how well the whole ‘forced busing in Berkeley CA’ story stands up to close scrutiny...I suspect Harris mis-remembers her childhood.
I also don’t see ‘forced busing’ as an issue that working class voters in battleground states are going to embrace on 2020 anymore than they did in 1968.
If Biden doesn’t push back on this, I’d question his commitment to the campaign.
