"I am lamenting this question, not attacking good Catholics in asking this."

I'm a non-practicing Catholic. Have been for a very long time. I pray to the Lord every day, but I don't go to mass, and haven't been to confession in many years. The fact that the Church is willing to look the other way on this, and other issues, gives me even less of a reason to go to church. I can speak to God on my own, and confess my sins to him, and ask for his forgiveness myself. If the Church will not stand up for what is right, then why should I support it in any way?

My good friend Joe feels the same way, as a former altar boy. He loathes “Pope” Francis and what he stands for. My wife, on the other hand, goes every week, b/c she believes her attendance is about serving God and not some sin apologists in the Church.
She too, BTW, says that this pseudo-Pope makes her sick.
