Did you, JP, ever think that by posting an article the thread poster simply posted the article to allow people to discuss the subject of the article?

By not "participating in the discussion that follows" they are not necessarily, as you say, "comfortable with their own ‘facts’ and they are not unwilling to "understand more".

They place the article to allow a forum for discussion of the article. (Also, by posting an article, the poster is not necessarily an advocate for it's point of view -- if there is one.)

I have considered that and I can't help thinking that anyone doing that, repeatedly, is filled with a degree of self-importance that borders on delusional.
