Well, it was the Dark Ages....

It was.

Everyone who wasn't a whiny Goth pretending to be sick and
sad was ACTUALLY sick and sad. With a level of commitment.

They would actually die from the stuff they were sad about.

It was so totally real.

Actually, life expectancies in 1019 were WAY WAY WAY better in Europe than they were in 1919.
