Iread previously that in all the welcoming posts, no one told you how to make yourself known other than by your replies. There is a clear and unambiguous way for you to give personal particulars to your heart's desire. Otherwise, we will all be ignorant of who you are and what you stand for until you to this:
- Go to the Forum primary page: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index (click here)
- On the menu bar at the top of the listing, click on the word "Account"
- On the "Account" page click on "My Profile"
- Fill out as much as you desire, to your heart's content, what you want us to know about you.
- Then come back to a discussion page and click on your username when your cursor cause it to be underlined
You will then see exactly what you wrote about yourself. You do not need to use "Vanity" posts to achieve your goal.
If you want to see what is on my profile, just click on my username underneath this response to you.

Got it. Not a chat room. One more question then I stop. Is it permissible for me to start a new thread or do I have to wait for someone else to start a thread that I am contemplating and if I have to wait for someone else to start the thread why couldn’t I start the thread to begin with. Might want to stick to articles, publications, “news”, if you want to post an article yourself. If it’s a blog, include the whole article (not an excerpt), etc.

Welcome and Merry Christmas. You’ll get used to the sarcasm.
When you edit the "My Profiles" page, just put a "Thank You" note on your profile page.
Then add a reply to this post, telling everyone yu wish to thank to just click on your username and they all (as many as wish) can review your thank-you message there.
There is no need to use up Forum bandwidth for pursuing this topic.

Generally speaking, an new thread should include an article from another source that you are posting for discussion. Posts with just your own thoughts are called “vanities” around here, and they are frowned upon unless you have something useful to say and you clearly identify it as a vanity in the title. (I have posted one vanity in 18 years - my first post. I survived it - barely.)

Just review the "Posting Guidelines" and its subparagraphs. If you can't find answers there, the come back to the Forum to ask for help. Only then. Some people that regularly participate still don't understand the basics that the Introductory pages already supply. Just as an observation, not a criticism, you aren't the only one so far clueless (like I was, at the beginning).
