Wow, I don’t know how I’m going to function without all those nonessential workers not working.

If they are nonessential, why do we need them in the first place?

Their next paycheck isn’t until January anyway.

Most are taking vacation days from now until then anyway.

The shutdown only affects about 1/4 of the government, as 3/4ths is already funded.

As usual, the Dems are overplaying their hand.

The rest of America is wondering why the big deal over $5 billion for a Wall that is obviously needed, and why not ONE Dem will vote for it.

Their party discipline is admirable, however I consider EVERY Dem an enemy of America.

Up here in Canada “essential” workers are those more urgently needed. For instance, ambulance drivers, nurses, teachers, fire fighters, etc. are “essential services”. People who work in offices, say doing the filing or filling out forms, although their jobs must be done, it’s not going to effect the public negatively for quite awhile if they don’t go to work.

I think people are confusing nonessential with unnecessary. The essential services can be life-threatening if withdrawn....except the teachers. They are essential services because everyone has to go to work and can’t stay home with their kids.
