If President Donald Trump's Twitter feed is the window to his thoughts, everything he says there should be taken seriously. So the fact that he has now on three occasions over the past month and a half threatened to "close" the US border with Mexico means he is thinking seriously about it.
Border agents temporarily closed one port of entry, in San Diego, over the weekend when frustrated migrants rushed the border. They also shot tear gas to break up the crowd.
The next morning Trump reiterated his "close the border" threat and added the word "permanently."...

Actually, if Trump actually closed the border, actually, there would be no movement across the border...actually.
Note the biased reporting here. Those poor "migrants" only "rushed the border" because they were "frustrated!"

Schmucky Schumer and Nancy Pug-ugly would be calling press conferences every 5 minutes shouting “CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS! CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS!!”
And their willing accomplices in the Drive-By Media would dutifully report their wailing on every news show for the next 6 weeks. Neglecting, of course, to remind people that closing the border for National Security reasons is one of the main jobs of a federal government.

How about: What Would Happen if President Trump Closed the Southern Border.
Using the word ‘actually’ in a headline like this is highly insulting. We are not elementary school kids.

The retail trade in San Diego would take a tremendous hit and a lot of Americans would lose their jobs. It is a complex and symbiotic relation between Tijuana and San Diego. Mexican customers cross the border legally and they spend billions in San Diego County.
Mexico will howl - lots of trade will halt, and the simple fact is that their economy cannot take that for more than a couple of days. Panic would ensue in their business community, and the whole thing would fall apart pretty quickly.
Thus, it will not happen. Mexico will not allow it, and will (grudgingly and under protest) do what we want.
Frankly, we don’t want to do that, either. Who wants a Venezuela situation with 130 million people directly across the border? Not me, we have enough illegals and even enough legals...we don’t need to have 5 million try to exit Mexico in a couple of months.
Trump knows this, but he’s just using his leverage effectively. We also know that there is a lot going on that we don’t (and perhaps never will) know about. Fine with me - I trust Trump’s judgment in negotiations, the guy knows how to play hardball, and is thinking of ways to outsmart the other guy while the other guy is sleeping.

True dat. But how about closing the border to pedestrian crossings
but continue to allow trade/commercial crossings.
In reality it would be an economic hardship on the big border cities. A lot of Mexicans that have money come to the US to shop, a lot of goods cross into the US that companies here depend on. Businesses next to the border would also have a labor shortage because people both legally and illegally cross the border daily to work. There would be an immediate effect in border cities, and it would ripple out across the country.
That is the reality, but my opinion is if we need to do it, we need to do it. Whatever it takes to get control of the border and keep out those that want to force their way in to this country.
I am convinced Mexico will get control and arrest and deport left and right until they get control if we do shut down the border. A closed border will hurt Mexico far worse than it would the US.
To me this is one of those times the saying “No pain, no gain” may be the truth of solving this issue.
Fine with me, but difficult to do if the Mexicans don’t control them on their side, or they’ll just enter through the truck lanes.
Since its way to dangerous to go on vacation down in that hole anymore, I doubt anyone will notice...OH wait! I forgot the feel good national socialistic democRAT party members of the USA.

President Trump means what he says and gives lots of warning about what he’s going to do.
Nobody can say they weren’t warned.
The only reason they will be surprised is that they are not used to a politician who has enough manhood to follow through with what he says.
