America landed the InSight on Mars yesterday.
At Mission Control there were a lot of hugs, high fives and woot-woots upon receiving confirmation (although Im sure their diversity officer advised against the hugs).
Still, it was a far cry from the exuberant flag waving celebration that accompanied Apollo 11s moon landing in 1969.
Flags are currently deemed too nationalistic to be displayed when we accomplish something as a nation that nobody else has, its considered taunting. And as I noted yesterday, concerns about Americas colonization of yet another planet have already been raised so well be keeping this American achievement low key in the media so as not be be accused of hubris in the court of international opinion.
Anyway, I think the landing may present the perfect solution to the current mess at the border. Since the NWO doesnt want the U.S. to colonize space, lets give that honor to the Third World this time! We could send all the Pakistanis, Iranians, Somalis, Mexicans and Central Americans that have been detained for entering our country illegally to Mars to crack rocks or whatever.
It will be just like Australia, without the water. Ive even got a recruiting poster:
Mars: Its not for old white guys. Bring me your chocolate, your mocha, your teeming caramel

the Moose-limbs should be the first to sign up to go. the planet is dry and sandy, just like home
“...concerns about Americas colonization of yet another planet have already been raised,...”
To those who would raise such “concerns”,: Fxxx Off.
First picture, the bald guy on the right is my Wife’s cousin.
Nice job, NOBO2012.
That’s the awesome thing about Free Republic, in almost every story, there’s a FReeper with a personal connection.
My son may be one of those guys someday. He just became an Astronautical Engineer and works at NASA. He was pretty excited yesterday.
I watched the one guy shaking with nerves and anticipation as the lander was touching down and thought that he’s just like my kid would be.
No one but America has the audacity, the ability and the space geeks to land men on the moon and land stuff on other planets.
"...bald guy on the right..."
"Touchdown"
The bigger issue here is nationalist patriotism as invoked through flag waving. Many visiting Europeans comment on how many flags there are in America. They go out on the streets and see American flags flying everywhere. It’s something to which they’re not accustomed. I’ve yet to meet a European who is off put by the display, but they almost always comment.
Juxtapose that with European national flag waving, and it’s a stark contrast. Europeans have been cowed into a quiet patriotism, if any at all. They aren’t often “proud” of their nation the way Americans are. I find this sad.
What’s even more depressing is that while we watch most of Europe degrade into a Muslim dhimmah, Americans are slowly being conditioned to less America. One only needs to look at the blockbuster that wasn’t, First Man, to see that Hollyweird and other entities are doing their damnedest to tone down the “America first” rhetoric in spite of most Americans’ wish to be revered for our ingenuity, strength, and unity. If we don’t wake up soon, we’re going to find flags and most of our nationalist symbols weakened or relegated to the status to which most Europeans are accustomed.
Congratulations to your Son - and nice work raising him. That's a dream job, I can only imagine the fun he'll have.
Where did your son study?
this is a really dumb post.
Not only that, but the German Chancellor Angela Merkel actually removed the German Flag from a display of flags at some international meeting and threw it on the ground.
She was the only one there that grabbed her own country’s flag and tore it down.
“Ha! My Wife was looking over my shoulder; “yeah, that’s Gene”.”
A friend of the family had a son who worked with NASA on a few projects. His name was Gene.
Seems like if you name your son Gene, he will wind up at NASA.
Commie nutcase...
A small specialized engineering college called Capitol Technology university in Laurel, MD.
They are truly geek school. Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering and Astronautical Engineering are their main fields of study. Very very little PC nonsense. Most of the students seem to be apolitical or conservative.
The college is located between Fort Meade (NSA) and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center so it’s perfectly located for students to intern and work at these facilities.
It’s unknown outside the industry yet highly regarded by those who are hiring.
My kid wanted to work at NASA building rockets since he was six. When he was a Junior in college, he got a job at NASA controlling a solar observatory and taking pictures of the sun. He’s working on another mission now, flight operations for a small satellite array.
A very, very serious question about who is allowed to go into space.
Space travel is going to be the next “Out of Africa”. Those who are the first to go into space will have their lineage spread across the cosmos.
It is very, very important that those who do go not only have, but be “The Right Stuff”.
I absolutely detest the Passive Voice. "Concerns have been raised"??? Bullshit! ONE blithering leftist, race-bigoted professional agitator whose name I can't remember burped up some incoherent blather ... That is all.
