One ‘enrolls’ in college. One ‘enlists’ in the military. I’ve done both, and I can tell you there’s a slight difference in the two.

Here, too, agreed. But there are two commonalities, as well: one, both are voluntary, and two, once you sign on the dotted line, Uncle Sam generally owns your ass until you fulfill your end of the agreement. Although I consider student loans the less noble of the two paths. In the here and now, going to a trade school is a wiser choice than going into hock for any of these collegiate group-think incubators.
