I suspect the same could be said of the use of marijuana. Even though legal for medical use or for recreation in some states it is a dangerous drug according to federal rules. If the federal government can prove your use of this “dangerous” psychoactive drug you could be a target of gun grabbers as well.
So...people who might need professional mental health care are going to regard psychologists, psychiatrists (who have the highest suicide rate among M.D.’s) and even primary care doctors as government spies, especially if they are questioned thus:
“Do you own guns? If so, how many? Are they secured? Are there children in your house?”
“Have you ever had any negative thoughts that might lead to suicide? Do you suffer from depression? Do you feel that others are out to get you?”
Scary...even though for now the danger is greatest in blue states with Red Flag snitch laws erected over the grave of due process, where gun owners are regarded with suspicion and the po-po can show up at your door anytime because your liberal neighbor with a grudge dropped a dime on you.
OBTW, these new laws reduce making false statements to police or judges from felony perjury to a mere misdemeanor. Abuse will become rampant. Lives ruined and no penalty for lying.
Who didn’t see that coming? It was my first thought when Tipper Gore encouraged people to seek help for depression. She seemed to think half of the country was depressed.
So...anybody that has lost a family member, mother, father, brother, sister and is naturally going to be depressed. They get medication to help them and now they are considered a threat because they own a gun?

I warned people years ago when the government was pushing PTSD disability for anyone who wanted a couple hundred bucks a month. They were given free “treatment” which is classified as psychotropic drug therapy and will become a disqualifier for firearm ownership.

I’ve long suspected the recent advertisements on tv/radio urging people to “stop feeling stigmatized by their depression or mental issues to come forward and get the help they need” is to find excuses to confiscate firearms from law abiding citizens.
Not once have I ever heard or read the gun confiscation goons express a desire to disarm the thugs in Chiraq or Baltimore or Cleveland or LA.

The gun grabbers don’t need drugs as a justification to seize guns. The Soviets reasoned that anyone who couldn’t see the superiority of socialism was crazy. That was all the justification they needed to lock up a dissident in a mental hospital. The same logic could justify any type of abuse.
That is only the first step...wait until authorities are able to grab your guns based on some anonymous tip that your are unhinged.
