Yuck. Given the way of things, I’m half surprised they haven’t come out with the “Young Vader Chronicles”. It would seem about their rate.

Well, technically, there already IS a Young Vader Chronicles: It’s called the Prequel Trilogy and the Clone Wars series.

Thatr’s not curmudgeonly. That’s doing EXACTLY what you’re accusing them of doing. Adding politics in for no good reason other than you want to be pissy.

I have over 2,000 hours on BF 2142.
Got into BF4 a few years after it’s release.
never played BF 1 beyond it’s free trial.

Gonna wait for the user reviews before purchasing BF 5.
Not going to make the same mistake i made with BF3 by pre-ordering and waiting in line at midnight like an idiot for a half-assed game with almost none of the features of BF2.

BF2 and 2142 are my all time favorite games.

Lucas did that beginning in 1977. Set it in stone in 1983. The political BS was resurrected again in 1999, 2002, and 2005. Then they went off the deep end with The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi, and I'm the one injecting politics?

Am I assuming "Resistance" is going to get political? Damn straight. Do I have a good reason to believe it will? You betcha. It's based on their track record, and my knee-jerk is not unwarranted.

Lucas thinks he did it in 1977. But let’s face it NOBODY thought the Rebels were the VC until years later when Lucas said they were.

Rebels didn’t get political. And was really good.

Yeah, about that, you ARE aware that Lucas had the Rebels as being the Viet Cong since 1973, right? And it’s not even from some interview he gave, but actual development notes he himself wrote, such as this one: https://otnesse.tumblr.com/post/162081709399/this-is-from-george-lucas-1973-notes-for-star

And I don’t know about Rebels, considering the Rebels’ slaughtering a civilian mining guild for their fuel was treated as a good thing, not to mention their allying with Saw Gerrera, who is a pretty blatant expy of Che Guevara.

Not even 1977, more like 1973, as you can see here: https://otnesse.tumblr.com/post/162081709399/this-is-from-george-lucas-1973-notes-for-star

Besides, I don’t think he even MENTIONED the show Rebels anyway.

I am aware. And as I said NOBODY saw it that way until he said it. So really, who cares.

Not really. Saw was a nut. And no victim of a smarter conspirator.

Iger should be paying attention to the 4 billion dollar investment going down the tubes.

They are building “star wars land” into their parks (plural) and it is going to be over before it begins.

It will be lamer than the navi river ride in animal kingdom.

I’d probably tolerate it if it were Son Goku-kind of goofball

Just looked that up on Wiki ... Son Goku would be a good friend to party with ... and go to war with.

Yet somehow the Disney heavy hand managed to keep the Disney version of the marvel univers watchable. Infinity war even had a bad guy who was a zero population environmentalist.

Disney corporate truly lost control and copulated the canine with the sjw manure.

Who cares?! Let me point out to you that Nikita Khrushchev actually stated that they were to give “incremental doses” to the public, small enough that no one can even detect they’re moving to Socialism until it’s too late. If anything, that sort of thing is EXACTLY why we should care. People also assumed Bill Clinton would be a run-of-the-mill moderate (why do you THINK they voted for him to be President twice?). And Nixon actually cited Return of the Jedi in his book No More Vietnams as why we are very reluctant of using our strength and size at all, even to defend freedom in 1985.

Saw was still treated positively compared to the Empire, though, which is what COUNTS in the long run. And besides, Saw wasn’t the one who slaughtered a civilian mining guild in order to raid their fuel, or the one who bombed that parade in the beginning of Rebels, that was the Ghost Crew, you know, the main protagonists of the story. Saw didn’t even factor into the show until the final season.

It’s not an incremental dose if the only person on the planet that knows that “message” is there is the writer. Incremental dose requires the viewer to actually SEE IT TOO. Which we didn’t. And frankly even after you read that interview it’s still not really there, it’s in the “I suppose if he says so” territory. So yes: WHO CARES. Really GET OVER IT.

By the time Return came out our unwillingness to use our strength was well established. Nixon didn’t bother to notice Iran. We stopped pushing the world around while Nixon was giving his resignation speech. Return ain’t go a thing to do with that.

No Saw wasn’t. Saw was treated as a nut, and a pain in the ass, but sometimes needed ally.

Nope, Lucas is FAR from the only one who got the message. It was also Chris Taylor, aka the guy who wrote How Star Wars Conquered the Universe (and he’s not even one of the developers but an actual viewer), not to mention Ian McDiarmid, Walter Murch, and I think Joe Johnston.

And it’s NOT an interview, it’s the actual bleeping development notes, specifically the story treatment. He outright compared Aquillae to North Vietnam and the Empire to 1983 America.

And for the record, we weren’t pushing anyone around, we went into Vietnam specifically to stop Communism. We had zero interest in their tin supplies or even their oil. We didn’t even have any interest in colonization. Same deal with Korea. If anyone was pushing the world around, it was the USSR and China with their various liberation fronts.

And yes, Saw WAS treated as a good guy compared to the Empire, to the extent that even Leia in Bloodlines pretty much said as much. Heck, Jyn Erso actually recited one of his sayings in a rather fond manner in Rogue One just prior to the Scarif mission. You DON’T ally with someone to fight a known evil unless they are at least presumed to be less evil than the one you’re fighting. And you’re still ignoring how the Ghost crew, in the first season, had actually done stuff like outright slaughter a mining guild for their fuel, a civilian mining guild at that, and also bombed a parade during the founding day of the Empire.

That book was written DECADES after Lucas discussed it in an interview (yes it was in an interview where it became public knowledge). So Taylor already had that information available, it’s not like he watched the movie and spotted it.

Saw was a lesser of two evils. But there was no question that he was evil and messed up. Better than the Empire doesn’t make somebody a good guy, just potentially useful. Much like how we allied with the USSR to beat the Nazis. We weren’t thinking the USSR were good guys, just useful.

The cartoon TV series? Yes, that was actually better than the prequels and Eps 7 and 8.

It was good writing, good story, and a lot of fun. And you're right, that one didn't get political.
