Energized by the internet persona Q’s complex web of conspiracy notions about the forces aligned against President Donald Trump, Q’s followers have spread virally online and now, in real life too, forming a movement known as QAnon.
From somewhere in the vast and mysterious “deep state,” a dissident agent rises up to give the people cryptic clues about how their heroic president will push back the forces of evil and make America great again. The renegade informant is known only as “Q,” and if he actually exists, it’s not as a character in a movie, but somewhere in the Washington, D.C., bureaucracy.

QAnon is the latest in a string of conspiracy ideas that take hold of the public’s imagination in times of social stress and technological change. And QAnon is something new, a leaderless popular movement made up of people who believe in no one and therefore are willing to believe almost anything.
To believers, Q is a pseudonym for a well-placed U.S. government agent who is posting online distress messages and bits of intel, known as “breadcrumbs,” in an effort to save the country — and Trump — from hostile forces within the government. Q’s missives started appearing last October on 4chan, the mostly anonymous website where fringe ideas incubate and blossom....

Ever investigate anything, like get a few indications of a situation and then you have to dig in and research information to find the answer and come to a conclusion. In my world we call it troubleshooting. Q is just giving us symptoms, and we follow the first parts to get us on the case and then steps back and we dig in
Thats what Anons do, just average joes and we are great at digging in and
finding the truth and what fits logically and no one telling us this is what you need to find and say when you are there
Been in this side of things for decades, solving problems that have no obvious answer and going from what little I am given and finding the answer that never existed before and then taking that to the software or hardware folks to fix and the problem is solved
No one takes us by the hand and whips us to a conclusion, each has their own journey and epiphany
To each his own, so if you like what you have now then just sit back and enjoy

I think its a deniable back-channel operated by some very clever people in the administration.
It may not be entirely truthful, it may be working in a semi-fictional mode - but thats the thing, nobody looking at it knows when it isn’t. That plus the story-line are the clever bits.
This is politics, and therefore PR, and therefore entertainment, of a sort.

Allow me to answer that question: because they love writing stories that make the Trump supporters look bad. And this one does that in spades.
You would have to do more than that to write up your desired solution and the process of getting there as a drama series for TV. Or a marketing campaign.
This thing, Q, is a great deal of that. It has entertainment value, deliberately. Its like the bit in “Christmas Story” where he so eagerly saves Ovaltine coupons to send off for the Little Orphan Annie decoder ring. Its participatory.
The problem, as in the “Christmas Story” thing, is of coming up with something real to decode. And with Q, so far, TBD.
Anonymous sources and authors is just about the only source of truly free speech the Left has left to us.
The choice to know, to look and see for yourself, is yours. You might discover they follow Trump first, not Q. They delight in the multitude of alignments between the two, but if Q didn't have this habit of dropping clues that lead to real, verifiable, timely, relevant information, the Autist community would have shredded it long ago.

I went to grammar school in the 50’s. Teachers didn’t tell you what to think back then. Graduated from high school in ‘65. In my later years I went to college full time at night, and worked full time days. My interest was history. Spent a lot of years, traveling extensively to various archives, libraries, and historical societies, doing research on primary source material that I was able to track down. Provided a bunch of my research material to authors who published books that included my finds. And I got acknowledgements in their books for it. Got free copies of the books as well.
So I did my own digging, in my own way, and came up with my own opinions and findings to write my Masters Thesis. I got a lot of satisfaction out of it, and met a lot of nice people along the way. Several year ago I donated all my years of research to the Mass. National Guard Museum and Archives in Concord. Didn’t want it to end up in a dumpster after I was dead.
At 70, and as last member of my family to survive, my goal now is to enjoy as many days as I have left.
