As I recall Japan’s Constitution , written by MacArthur, prevents this. War is renounced and only self defense is permissible.

It would take 1 week for the Nips to put together a nuclear warhead. The delivery system, or lack of one, is the question.

Who needs nukes when you’ve got the worlds biggest, ugliest over grown lizard with the worst case of bad breath and can stomp a city flat in an hour?

Been said before that they are a screwdriver away from being nuclear armed. A pile of parts is plausible deniability.

Their satellite launch capability is all they need for missile delivery.

Another genius journalist who doesn’t know the difference between an ICBM and an IRBM.

Given the historical animosity towards Japan by the Koreas and China that linger still from WWII such a move by modern Japan to not be beholding to Chineese “good will” would undoubtedly be met with opposition from many nations. Yet, how long can America provide a defense umbrella for Asia and Europe as we have for 75 years? Reagan defeated the Soviets by outspending them. Can’t Russia and China team up to do the same to us? And doesn’t Japan have a right to have nuclear deterrance from a historical enemy in China? A revived NATO and SEATO with equal contributions by the members is preferable in my view. If American forces are used then the members need to pay us our costs.
