Today, I pray today for the families and dear friends of every soldier who has given his/her life defending my freedom. Every year we Memorialize those precious people, for a little while, we grieve with the loved ones left behind.
I'd like to ask another thing of each of you today. The people we memorialize paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Their families also paid a horrendous price. I know many FReepers have experienced the loss of beloved friends or family too. If you are like me and not a veteran you may wonder today, “What can I do?”
I got an answer last week when I was requested by fellow Freeper, bitt, to call my Congressmen and let my voice be heard. Almost all of us have a cell phone semi-attached to our bodies. We all have 3 people in Congress who work for us! All calls to legislators are listened to and tallied. Our representatives may not be conservatives but they still keep tabs of the number of constituents calling “for” and “against” each issue. Those legislators are fairly certain that if you are informed enough to call, you vote. Many more people actually vote than ever call a congressman.
We have been blessed with President Donald Trump who is working to Make America Great Again. He is bogged down by this Mueller investigation, he's being hog-tied by Congressmen not passing his legislation and holding up approval on his appointed Federal Judges. The FBI/DOJ are stone-walling on releasing unredacted information lawfully demanded by Representatives Gowdy and Nunes and I'm not hearing my conservative representatives backing them up in their demands for information. We have an election coming up in 5 months and need to assure the integrity of elections, eliminating illegal voting and prosecuting the election fraud perpetrated in 2016. That's a healthy list of things about which we need to have our opinions on record with our Congressmen.
Fellow FReepers, I'm asking for a concerted effort among ourselves for a commitment to calling your U.S. Congressional Representatives once a week. More if you run into an item that needs an immediate call. It took me less than 5 minutes for web searching numbers and calling both my Senators and my Representative. No huge time commitment. President Donald Trump can use our help now getting Congress to move on many items. Make a list. Each call make points of 2 or 3 things on your list and change your talking points each week. Please resolve to begin making regular phone calls to your Congressmen. They work for you. Tell them what you want them to do. They are actually employing people with our money to hear our concerns. I believe with both prayer and making these calls we can help President Trump DRAIN THE SWAMP. Thank you.
5 to 8 months ago I made calls to Federal and State offices because a son-in-law who has 18 yrs combined army/National Guard service was needing medical help from the VA. He contacted 2 separate forms of disabling thing stemming from his service in Iraq. The VA doctors say he is the only person on record with these 2 different things in his body. The treatment of each dis-ease causes the other dis-ease to become worse. The VA doctors had not provided any help in over 6 years but they seemed to like to talk about him and show him as an 18th century naturalist would show an aboriginee. At that time I had the 2 conditions written near my designated “sit and call” spot and could have told you details, all our reps heard and read both electronically and snail mail. An order from President Trump actually opened the door to some better medical care for s-i-l. Incidentally, s-i-l has remained active duty thru all this. His job is training. I think they call him half or 3/4 time NG reserve. Instead of one weekend/month and 2 weeks in summer he adds in extra weekends, long weekends and 4 times/year serves 3 week training stints. He is currently fighting being forced into early retirement due to the physical afflictions.
There were some things I knew from personal contact of wrong -doings by Red Cross and some FEMA mismanagement things from the hurricane/flooding across Texas, Louisiana and Florida that I made calls for between September and December last.
Except for the occasional reminder to “call your Senator” about “x”. I have been a reactive caller. I am still reactive in a sense but am committing to an active schedule of attempting to call on a regular basis with a broader scope to my calls.
My January thru this past week have been involved with working for a truly conservative candidate in my state representative district. That campaign ran quite long due to a run-off election. During these months I only made a couple of calls to DC regarding residual FEMA help not getting to 2 people I felt warranted some help.
I hold you up now before our Lord and Saviour, the healer of all our afflictions and diseases. I ask my precious Lord to put His Hands on you to give you physical and emotional healing. I ask Jesus to be with you in mourning your friend, comfort you and give you His Peace. I pray that Jesus guide the Hands of your human doctors, that His heart be within the hearts of the nurses and lab techs who come near you. I pray that the Lord help you to supernaturally feel the love that your fellow Freepers extend to you in your time of need. In the most precious Name of Jesus i ask these things. Amen

I’m one of ~those~ people who muck around with fingers in so many pies, no pie gets finished nicely.
Good thing about pie: when it doesn’t come out firm and pretty I spoon it in a bowl. it tastes good. people say “this is so good, what’s your recipe?” I give a deer in the headlights look and have no clue what to say. I don’t start with recipes. That could be a big part of my problem.
We believe that my son-in-law is healed. The doctor’s say no cure. He is 38 yrs old and this is definitely life-threatening or life-shortening. I believe my God is going to be bigger than to take those 4 grandkid’s dad early. But today is Memorial Day and we, as a family, know that “but for the Grace of God” there go we.
My 2 sons-in-law have returned safely from multiple tours. They have treated me with as much love as natural born sons. They are amazing husbands to my daughters and loving, nurturing fathers to my grandkids. I just thank God for them every day and pray that He give them long healthy loving lives.

I think this time, under this president is the closest I’ve felt to being able to make a difference. I loved President Reagan and our nation shone under him. At that time I was embroiled in a group trying to unravel some crooked local politics so there was still a great deal of frustration.
Still, I know of crooked local stuff. Much older and wiser now. I’ve also accepted Christ and learned to ask for God’s intercession into these endeavors. But, I truly believe prayer, working on getting our legislature off top dead center and working this fall’s election for good candidates can set the nation on a better course. We have already set a better course in many ways.
