Buckle Up! Now comes the pain!
You will be asked and reminded a number of times as you read this to take in hand and swallow only the red pill, hypothetically speaking.
And, as you do this, you must also agree that we are living at the precipice of the most historical and potentially volatile times in our nation, with full knowledge that senior members of the US federal government have been doggedly working 24/7 to prosecute President Donald J. Trump, for crimes they know full well that he did not commit.
I wish this “red pill” nonsense would stop. Tying reality to a movie is childish fantasy.
What color will our uniforms be this time?
It’s a useful metaphor.
Why hasnt anybody said boom yet?
It’s from a movie? I didn’t know. I thought I must have missed a good FR thread that had the explanation.
It’s just pop culture shorthand, not many other ways to put it. “Convert?” That sounds a little too pushy.
The Matrix. Red pill for reality, blue pill to stay in the illusion of the matrix.
Movie: The Matrix.
“The red pill would free him from the enslaving control of the machine-generated dream world and allow him to escape into the real world, but living the “truth of reality” is harsher and more difficult.
On the other hand, the blue pill would lead him back to stay in the comfortable simulated reality of the Matrix.”
Thanks. I just now asked my husband if he’s seen The Matrix ...only 5 or 6 times. So he gave me a synopsis and I now get it, sort of :-).
But it seems to me democrats are the equivalent of those in the matrix, and they would be the ones to benefit from taking the red pill.
Thanks. Does anyone else see the democrats as the ones ‘enslaved’ in a dream world and needing the red pill?
Blue Pill = Democrat Utopia
Totally! We conservatives already live in reality. We don’t need any pills.
Generally speaking you’re correct, it would be Democrats but there are people on our side who need persuasion regarding certain things, thus it applies there as well.
p
Its a useful metaphor.
Its a common theme and term that many of the unaware can relate to.
Yes, like the ones who expect Sessions to comment on on-going investigations. *COUGH*
Actually, ‘red pill’ is a good euphemism for harsher expressions such as ‘incite’, ‘shock’, ‘battle’, ‘fight’.
It has nice connotations also, such as an awakening or awareness process leading to action.
I won’t argue against it as there have been hundreds of euphemisms that have found a home in contemporary vocabulary.
I never saw the film where it was born but I will use it.
You GOT it, Exactly. Nice deduction.
Classical phrases are pretty much dead in this cultural climate, sadly. I am a little repulsed by a “pill” word being used in any case, but it does rather cut to the chase.
Besides, it’s not oldsters that need the “red pill” so much, but the ignorant, who have been co-opted by the Left. That means by owning Public Education and academia and curriculum for at least five decades.
Pills up. Red please.
Why are you promoting drug abuse on FR?
