Anybody know if the ordinance includes a definition of an assault weapon

An "assault weapon" is defined as anything black and ugly.

This is now prohibited in Deerfield.

But this is okay:

The first dumb thing that they do is not putting forth every effort to get the heck out of it.

The first sentence of that letter would have gotten the whole thing thrown in the trash. I don’t believe any one of those members read the entire letter.

Very well written and thanks for posting...

“”Anybody know if the ordinance includes a definition of an assault weapon?””

No one who is shouting about those bad, dangerous assault weapons can define what one is and no reporter will ask that question.

I think a novel approach to this might be helpful not just here, but against other local governments that want to take away gun rights. Sue them for civil rights violations. Putting them on the same moral grounds as the KKK.

42 U.S.C. § 1983

“Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress, except that in any action brought against a judicial officer for an act or omission taken in such officer’s judicial capacity, injunctive relief shall not be granted unless a declaratory decree was violated or declaratory relief was unavailable.”

But wait, there’s more.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/42/1985

Conspiracy to interfere with civil rights

“...or for the purpose of preventing or hindering the constituted authorities of any State or Territory from giving or securing to all persons within such State or Territory the equal protection of the laws...”

The reason for this is conspiracy charges are much easier to win against. In this case, almost *everything* they said to each other prior to their unanimous vote could be deemed conspiratorial, especially if they indicated they knew it was against the law.

It could be if that city is as sissified as people have been claiming then these idiots know there is not one person in that city who would own one of these weapons but it sure makes them feel and look good by passing that ordinance....Wasn’t it a city in IL years ago passing an idiotic ordinance that prompted the city of Kennesaw, GA to REQUIRE a weapon in every home? YEP!

There are enough marxist federal judges who want to destroy the Constitution and the Republic. I would not look for succor on the federal bench.

The open letter to Deerfield should have started with “Dear traitors”.

Interestingly, the museum got the knapsack in 1928, and consider it one of their most treasured items. I would hang that on my office wall.

How do the village idiots propose to enforce this ban? Will their police officers do warrentless house to house searches? Will the local schools indoctrinate the children to turn in tbeir parents? Will neighborhood snitches be recruited to report their neighbors to tbe authorities? These are all tried and true police state tactics. The village idiots might be surprised if large numbers of their population will simply flee their police state just like people fled East Germany and Cuba

"But, there is no end to gun control and that is your plan. Today it is assault weapons and ten round magazines. Tomorrow it will be revolvers and shotguns. Next month it will be BB guns. Next year it will be knives."

England is at the knife banning stage now.

So what? Aren't there 3 branches of government? Isn't the judiciary one of them? If the government were to act in concert to violate civil rights, why wouldn't judges rule in favor of tyranny?

With respect to attempted restriction on the 2A, it once again provides an indicator why evil always loses. Eventually, no longer how long it lasts, evil fails due to lack of initiative & discipline. Evil is a destroyer, not a creator; it doesn't encourage production, but rather destruction.

Because evil is undisciplined, it fails to remain patient and forgo action until it truly has the advantage. Rather than wait until more groundwork is laid to restrict guns, local communities are acting in fits of emotional outbursts entirely consistent with their history.

Too bad, so sad, evil will once again lose. Of course, evil always loses, so it's merely a matter of time. Those who would violate every citizen's civil rights have already lost; they just don't know it yet.
