Wait...let me get my popcorn.

Both have their places.

Matter of preference, I guess.

I still prefer the .45 for PDW, 'cause most encounters are going to be within 10 yards.

I do like the performance of my .357 Carbine, though.

Reach out and touch something, with 1800 fps.

To each his own, and I own several of each, so..., your mileage may differ.

Like you I like my .357 carbine. I’ve clocked loads out of mine (94 Winchester) and they consistently give 400fps more than my 4” Highway Patrolman. Basically that means it will hit as hard at 125 yards as the pistol will across a card table. Extremely useful combination using one cartridge, and I’m amazed that more people don’t know about it. That said, I’ve got a very genuine affection for my .45’s too.

Yep - .45 ACP is a slow heavy slug that kicks while it punches and the .357 pinches more than it kicks 9still devastating though) at closer range.

I have a Rossi carbine that is chambered for .357 (neat how the 16" barrel adds almost 50% to velocity)....it kicks a bit with the .357 rounds but is enjoyable for "plinking" with the .38 Special rounds.

I have a .357 revolver with 8" barrel that will reach out and touch something - can put 5 of 6 in a 5 gallon bucket at 100 yards and that's free form w/o bracing.
