If the earth is flat, what causes the tides?

The earth is flat but rests on an iron blob that causes earth to wobble around, sloshing the oceans to create tides, which are then package in little bite-sized bags for kids to swallow.

As to the question of why other planets are round, they aren’t. What looks to be rotation is the surface sliding around on tectonic plates.

According to Relativity, considering Lorentz Contraction...

For cosmic ray protons, for example, moving at 99.9999999999991% of speed of light, the Earth only appears 17 meters thick, essentially flat

I make the point in this blog:
http://smithsk.blogspot.com/2015/08/physics-part-2-flat-earth-it-depends.html

So it’s all relative. ;)

But if the cosmic ray were to perform the experiment from all angles, it would conclude that the results are isotropic and that the earth is indeed spherical but with a diameter of 17 meters.

You’re right! That’s relativity for you.

Hey, Flat-earthers.....

In your flat model...

-What source of energy keeps the sun in the sky if it's only 3000 miles up? Balloons?
-What complex force makes the sun and moon travel in a circle? Jet engines? Or does it hang from a string?
-If your flat-earth moon is a disk, what's the damn point of having different phases? Wouldn't it just be simpler to have a fully-lit disk all the time?

Morons.

Get out on a good contrail day, no clouds.

Those planes moving away from one leave a distinctly arched contrail as they maintain a consistent distance to the ground. Approaching aircraft are even more dramatic as they seem to be ascending, yet are seen once near overhead to have held the same altitude throughout.

In this way, one can see the curvature of the earth relative to where one is standing on it.

Where is the edge, exactly, according to the flat earthers?
It sounds like something that should be really easy to verify, just go there and take a look.

I’m fairly certain that the Earth is more or less spherical. Otherwise, how could the Sun possibly orbit it?

It's all done on a soundstage in the Shining Mountains of Nebraska, what I heard.
