This is important. The school resource officer at Stoneman High School did not intervene at all during the shooting and based upon deduction, I can't find any proof that the SRO responded anytime AFTER the shooting.
Where was this person? Were they on campus as so many authorities seem to have heard (from some guy who was told by some guy that some other guy had heard the SRO was on campus)?
Don't these people sign in or check in for the day? Where's their duty log to show where they were? Why didn't the SRO respond to the fire alarms which would have been heard all over campus? Why didn't the SRO respond when there were shots fired? Why didn't the SRO respond when children could be seen running for their lives?
I don't believe there was an SRO on campus that day and I am firmly believing the Broward County Sheriff's Department and the Broward County Public School District are covering up the fact that there was no one on campus to protect the kids when the shooting rampage began.
They want this inconvenient truth to go away, to be forgotten.
I think people have a right to know why their kids were defenseless that day.
Okay, so there’s an example of the loose claims that the SRO was ‘somewhere’ on campus.
Is it too hard to ask for an exact location?
And where’s the comments from the students or faculty about what the SRO was doing at the time of the shooting? Some one of them HAD to have seen the SRO since he was supposedly ‘on campus’ with hundreds of students, teachers, and law enforcement present.
Was he by the gym? Maybe out in the parking lot?
Why can’t we get a more specific description of where he was than just a ‘we think he was on campus’?
I mean we all know exactly where the shooter and the victims were, right?
So exactly where was the SRO?

I think that is normal for many districts. JMO.
You could be right. But it isn’t logical to think this is anywhere close to adaquate.
And what if none of the teachers in the area the killer attacked chose not to carry?
H. L. Menken once said that for every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. An nowhere is that more obvious than in cases like this one where both sides are throwing out ideas that will do nothing to prevent shootings like this. So here's an idea; instead of coming up with more useless laws why not tighten up the process we have now? Because what everyone is overlooking is the fact that this shooting should not have happened. The warning signs were there. And unlike past shootings, people did not keep those warning signs to themselves. They contacted the police. The school expressed its concerns. The FBI was notified. But still nothing happened. So forget the new laws. Find where the flaws are in the current process - which should have worked - and fix them. Make sure that the law enforcement authorities don't fall down on the job. Then maybe we'll put a dent in the number of shootings. Forget the worthless, feel-good, well-at-least-we-tried-something crap and fix the system. Fix the system...before people start saying "Why bother reporting it? It won't do any good anyway."
We can’t stop earthquakes, either.
But we can mitigate the damage they cause.
Hey I’m with you. Those are great questions that no one can seem to get a clear answer on.
Also..generally SRO’s aren’t SWAT folks, if you get my drift. When the SRO program started, the cops were there to do two things, teach the DARE curriculum and to present a positive face of Law Enforcement to students.
Megan, the gym teacher was also the security monitor for the school, he was killed in the attack, he was unarmed because the school district wouldn’t let him carry his weapon.
That won't do it.
Yes, you may be correct with that assessment
The statement at the news source said that the SRO officer was elsewhere on the 45 acre complex
but didn't specify exactly where he was at the time of the altercation.
My guess: cowering behind a ‘safe room door’ being guarded by a heroic JROTC cadet.
I’m Irish, too, and I can assure you that EVERY day is a practice day for St. Paddy’s Day
The gym teacher was not the SRO.
I know where he was and that is not in question.
Paddy’s month starts in 6 days, 6 hours, 25 minutes...
Thank you for passing that along. I deeply appreciate it.

I want that shooter praying I don't find him!
Turns out you were right.
Wow! I wouldn’t have put any blame on him if he had run to where he thought he could do some good but to never even try??????
