Trey Gowdy just made a shocking statement that surprises me both legally and morally. He said, “If the controversial Steele dossier didn’t exist, there would still be a Russia investigation.” I am totally confused by this, as I cannot see how the Russia investigation would ever exist without the fake and baited dossier.
Speaking to CBS’s Margaret Brennan:
REP. GOWDY: I actually don’t think it has any impact on the Russia probe for this reason.
MARGARET BRENNAN: The memo has no impact on the Russia probe?
REP. GOWDY: No, not to me, it doesn’t ; and I was pretty integrally involved in the drafting of it. There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica. The dossier really has nothing to do with George Papadopoulos’ meeting in Great Britain. It also doesn’t have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there’s going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier.

Trey wants to be left alone after he leaves congress and embraced once again as a prosecutor.
He’s basically announced to the world he believe’s in injustice.

He is now looking for obstruction of justice.

A day or two before he said he was quitting DC Gowdy said something defending Mueller, etc. so I tweeted Gowdy and said that now we know why the Benghazi investigation went nowhere.
He was good at the one liners for a while but zero results.
Howdy is probably correct but it will certainly be detrimental to admissabity as to much of the evidence derived therefrom.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t targeted in revenge for what he put the hildabeast through in regards to Benghazi. I wouldn’t be surprised if he and his family are in danger for their lives considering her well-known hit list.

Glad Gowdy is leaving. Must have taken the oath and caved onto the Deep state. I hope we don’t seen him on fake news when he’s gone.
Gowdy’s made a career out of his high dudgeon act. It played very well with juries and CSPAN audiences and a big fraction of FReepers. But there’s nothing behind it. No substance. No there there.
Correct. That is why President Trump gets no where near Muller.
Rumor I read is Gowdy is trying for Mueller’s spot.
Good sound bites from the past which led nowhere, cause me to dislike and distrust him completely.
Unless, of course, the Russia probe seeks to understand how Russia ended up with 20% of our uranium.
Gowdy’s leaving because the House is a mess, and life is short. I believe that. That he wants to be a prosecutor? I think he could spend the rest of his career putting politicians in jail.
Gowdy is a swamp monster, as is Ted Cruz. They are just better at hiding it than some.
Don’t you find it odd and quite coincidental, that all of Mueller’s staff which was brought in are all firmly anti-Trump? And most of the FBI staff he has, have either been demoted, transferred or fired? Mueller is working with Trump. Take that to the bank. Trump could have fired Mueller at any time, but hasn’t. Hmmm...
The Russians stand accused of colluding with the Trump campaign to 'hack the election', however that is defined.
They're also accused of hacking the DNC, hacking Clinton campaign chair John Podesta and working with Julian Assange of Wikileaks.
