Trey Gowdy just made a shocking statement that surprises me both legally and morally. He said, “If the controversial Steele dossier didn’t exist, there would still be a Russia investigation.” I am totally confused by this, as I cannot see how the Russia investigation would ever exist without the fake and baited dossier.
Speaking to CBS’s Margaret Brennan:
REP. GOWDY: I actually don’t think it has any impact on the Russia probe for this reason.
MARGARET BRENNAN: The memo has no impact on the Russia probe?
REP. GOWDY: No, not to me, it doesn’t ; and I was pretty integrally involved in the drafting of it. There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica. The dossier really has nothing to do with George Papadopoulos’ meeting in Great Britain. It also doesn’t have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there’s going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier.

That’s because you probably don’t hit the pipe before work, maybe if you started hitting the pipe all day, these things will become self evident.
Trey Gowdy: Successfully covered up and protected the Leadership of BOTH Parties in the IRS and Benghazi scandals.
By all means, keep digging! All it does is reveal how phones this all is. As if that wasn’t planned. Duh.
I remember a TV ad from years ago, pushing trips to some tropical paradise with the words:

That saying has popped into my mind at different times and seems apropos here.
There NEEDS to be a Russia investigation. And H*****y and King Obongobongo need to be the primary targets.
He is right!!
Think of it this way.... Muller has NOTHING.....going to find NOTHING.... NOTHING. EVER.. ZERO...NADA...
WHY NOT let it continue.... and have them go public with NOTHING to show!
If we use anything to close it down...we will look ‘guilty’...and not get the huge bump of have this clown committee coming up with zilch!
Did the FBI create a fake dossier on Gowdy to get a FISA warrant and learn things he doesn’t want leaked? That would explain a lot over the last few year and why he wants out of DC.
And that certainly seems to be the method they didn’t want exposed by the memo last week as it’s the main method mentioned in the memo.
With this incredible evaluation it is a good thing that Gowdy is leaving Congress at the end of this term.
I like ya Trey......but this is a one sided investigation where.........ahhhhh
never mind.
Maybe the investigation Is heading toward Hillary and the Dems. One can hope.
Mark Levin pointed out: there’s no Russia investigation. There is only a Donald Trump investigation. Gowdy persists in trying to make Mueller a good guy and his investigation reasonable, by pretending it’s all about Russian interference in the election and of course we need to investigate that.
Levin, thanks again for your blunt appraisals of truth.
Gowdy is a big hat but no cattle, when you get down to it.
He also said this (same interview): “I have seen no evidence of collusion between President Trump and the Russians or his campaign and the Russians.”
So which quote makes the headline?
He is basically saying that they didn’t need the dossier because the FISA court was in the pocket of the DOJ and since the DOJ was in the DNC pocket, they would have got their way no matter what. They’d have done it using Carter Page and whatever else. It doesn’t matter. The system needs to be fixed.
I like Trey but he was all in for the show. He worked hard at his job but I don’t think the passion is there to drain the swamp. Probably why he is out.
The problem with Mueller proceeding with nothing is it builds pressure for him to come up with a process violation - basically create the crime for which he can scream about.
Ha! Where are all the FReepers at now screaming that Gowdy should replace Sessions?
You should listen to the entire interview. You’re falling for fake news, or “cherry-picked” news. Go beyond the headline.
I think he is referring to Carter Page being investigated since 2013, without a FISA warrant.
Gowdy may be giving Mueller a way to save face.
Mueller can still investigate Russian influence on the U.S. election via Russian intelligence providing material for the Steele dossier.
