Bruckheimers latest project is 12 Strong, which was inspired by the first U.S. Special Forces that were sent to Afghanistan in the weeks after the September 11th terror attack. Its a tale that was kept under wraps until Doug Stantons book Horse Soldiers was published in 2009.

Looks good...EXCEPT that idiot Rob Riggle is in it. I cant stand the Fox NFL bad comedy he does
I read the book. The question I have is what happened to the Afghans that our operators aligned with? Never understood how the current government came to be.
Immediately I wanted to see this.
By then I saw that Michael Shannon appears to be a major star in it.
Im tired of filling the coffers with my money for people who hate us and our President.
Just Google.... Michael Shannon, Trump ....and you will get a barrel full of elitist hateful garbage against our President and all of us who voted for him
He must not be very bright to think no one can find his ugly words and attitude and how it might alienate future viewers of his movies.
Rob Riggle is a Retired Marine LtCol.
PS ...at movies we tend to suspend reality a bit and if an actor is playing a hero we like to think....yeah, I believe that...ie John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, etc
I could not watch this movie knowing how much Shannon hates our President and hates us.
Just a paycheck for him
I'm going to see 12 Strong at the theater after I'm done. It looks good.
That I know. He is still an idiot.
Good flick. Saw it last night
Late night Thursday two groups of high school boys and little ole me nice that the kids are seeing this stuff getting ideas about service and developing talent and skills and following good leaders
I really enjoyed the “Horse Soldiers” book. I think the main takeaway from the book was that it showed exactly how we should have prosecuted the war on the Taliban and bin Laden in Afghanistan. The deployment of heavy formations is what invited the IED as the primary weapon. It also would have kept the Afghan fighters in the forefront of taking back their country, albeit with SF and their access to air support.
Even better, learn the lessons taught by other conventional armies, like the Brits and the Soviets, and stay clear of Afghanistan entirely.
A true story that the majority of American are unaware of because the mission shown in the movie was classified for years. Very patriotic.
12 volunteers motivated to take it directly to the enemy right after the 9/11 attacks.
Magnificent movie. after seeing this movie
