Brash is not my style either. When Trump first came on the scene, I could not stand him, but what he had to say eventually won me over, and I am with him now all the way, even though he and I would not agree on many social issues.
I believe that he wants what is best for this country, and I am not being melodramatic when I say that his election to the presidency saved us from destruction.
“and I am not being melodramatic when I say that his election to the presidency saved us from destruction.”
I live in a very liberal part of the country. Everyone around us was laughing at Trump, “no way can he get elected”. Even my wife didn’t think he had a chance. But I tried to explain that you don’t get HUGE audiences at your rallies just because you are some billionaire “entertainer”. I was hopeful, but also was not convinced that he would get elected - so it really was unbelievable when it came down to the very end. What a night! We dodged a bullet - but there is still so much to be done.
My wife was from NJ, and I lived there for 8 years in the 1980’s - so Trump was often in the news. Neither one of us cared for him back then either (we were both raised with more humble mid-western attitudes).
But if you get beyond the “attitude” and some of the quips from his TV days and speeches - he really did speak to the ideas of straight-talk, integrity, hard work, freedom and no BS politics that is the heart of fly-over country.
