Press conference really didn’t say too much. No timetable laid out - what ever that means.

Evidence not all the pieces of the puzzle are ready.
- Reuters is reporting UK has given orders for missile submarines to move into positions off the Syrian coast.
- Centcom commander cancels scheduled meeting in NYC
- France’s PM briefed on military options.

Now in the middle of the night in Syria. No significant activity noted. As I pointed out earlier, UK and France still getting up to speed while US tries to get it’s assets in place as well.

I would be surprised if any attack were to be conducted tonight, but will try to make one last screen of information before bed :)

Day is well underway in Syria.

BBC reports that France’s President Emmanuel Macron says he has “proof” that the Syrian government attacked the town of Douma with chemical weapons last weekend.

(RUMINT) Observers have reported RAF fighter jets have arrived overnight at RAF Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus.

Conflicting reports regarding approximately 11 Russian combat vessels having left or returned to the Syrian port of Tartus. Fox new reporting the departure yesterday. However, Israeli sources yesterday indicated that they had returned to port as a symbol of trying to deescalate the situation. I’m inclined to think they are still at sea as a deterrent to US/UK cruse missile launches from available vessels. Russian govt officials also state they are out at sea.

NATO officials have stated use of chemical weapons are a threat to world peace. May indicate a broader coalition being set up.

MY assessment - More posturing and maneuvering today and tonight. With this much lead time, vulnerable Syrian military assets have been dispersed and co-located with Russian units/bases. This renders a quick strike like last year impossible and suggests a more prolonged operation once assets are in place. There may well be back door talks to try to deescalate this, but UK is hot (due to the saran gas assassination attempt of former Russian spy), France, Saudi Arabia and now potentially NATO (minus Turkey) siding up. Watching the chess pieces.

BLUF - Increasing unlikeness of an US lead attack in the near future.

Seems both US and Russia backing off the rhetoric.

reuters reporting OPCW investigators to be arriving to inspect the site today. If that is the case, chances of an attack in the short term have fallen significantly.

Just when you think you can have a peaceful lunch -

News sources reporting blood and urine samples contained chlorine and a u/I ‘nerve agent’ in blood samples obtained.

RUMINT that the US has identified 8 targets and MAY be coordinating the strike with Russia to avoid Russian causalities.

Chess pieces still being moved. Still don’t see a threat of an attack of any kind yet.

Afternoon - early morning hours in Syria

BLUF - chess pieces still moving, looks like no immediate strikes as both US and Russia seem to be cooling the rhetoric, but something will eventually be done.

News reports Trump in contact with UK and France on actions to take. Also report no decision has been made. RUMINT of Bolton and Mattis butting heads (but considering MSM sources I would n’t be too sure). Ryan states Trump does not need congressional approval for a strike. Mattis canceled a trip to NYC tonight to stay in DC

Russia toning down rhetoric but their news is telling russians to prepare for nuclear war and how to do it.

UK cabinet has approved potential actions against syria.

another day and tension continues in the middle east

BLUF: More posturing and chess piece maneuvering. Current trend suggests that things may remain at a simmer until the USS Truman task force can arrive on scene. Unless something unexpected happens, expect relatively ‘calm’ weekend.

Speaking of the Truman - Left port on the 11th with 5 support ship. It is suspected that it will link up with four other surface vessels plus two boomers equipped with cruse missiles - a 12 vessel unit. Add to this French and UK units. Approximate date on station - April 20th

Russian commentators are reported to have remarked that their flotilla of 11 ships would not last long if they were to engage the US fleet.

WATCH THE UNDERCARD - Israel and Iran have kept up a series of volatile warnings. While it is rumored that Russia has tried to get Israel to simmer down towards Iranian forces in Syria, Iran has kept the rhetoric up. Israel’s strike on T4 last Sunday displayed that the Russians are not up to speed to defend against Israeli countermeasures.
