President Donald Trump's comments on Friday in Alabama that NFL teams should cut any player who protests during the national anthem left a bad taste in the mouths of many players, and it turns out multiple ownership groups took issue with his speech as well.
"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now," Trump said to a cheering crowd in Huntsville. "Out. He's fired. He's fired."
Commissioner Roger Goodell called out the president for his remarks, and players from Richard Sherman to LeSean McCoy and more shared their responses on Twitter. But they weren't alone in criticizing the president for his comments.
Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch released a statement Saturday:
"Comments like we heard last night from the president are inappropriate, offensive and divisive. We are proud of our players, the vast majority of whom use their NFL platform to make a positive difference in our society."(continued)

I would love to see a lawsuit to force equal employment numbers on the NFL and NBA...
That would be a hoot....
“made millions off the military for their pregame red, white and blue festivites”
Maybe the military should PUBLICLY decline to do any of those?
the white players have to go along because we all know who the slaves are now....
It is really informative to look at what this league and the owners are doing. There can be no other deduction than they hate regular America as much as the thugs that play for them. I went to my first Pro Bull Riding event this year at the Honda Center. The patriotism was literally over the top, but all those guys, whether they were from Brazil, Spain, or what ever, stood in respect. The crowd was wild with appreciation. The fact the NFL thinks spitting on America is the way to present their product says all you need to know about the league and everyone involved.
They're obviously slow learners. Profits and attendance are way down. The BBC and Canadian News are not Trump-friendly. They'll find out on their own eventually. Too bad for their readers and watchers who don't keep up with real news.
“It will be very interesting to see what happens during the opening ceremonies at tomorrows games.”
You nailed it! I won’t waste time watching overpaid thugs lecture us on political morals with their clenched fist salutes, I’ll just read the aftermath here on FR.
Keep the faith, FRiend.
no more nice young soldiers being paraded around..
49ers, Giants, Dolphins, Packers condemn Trump’s remarks about NFL protests
Candy asses can never take the heat.
so rather than call their bluff, the owners and tv people have to become subservient....and if it means deriding our country and our people, so be it...
Billionaires seem to believe the fix is in, The Revolution is coming as a universally agreed upon tactic to achieve global government/social control, and that they need to stay on the Left side of the sloganeering to ensure the continuity of their empires when the Marxists assume command. So they really, really want Trump to shut the hell up about these little issues, before he messes up the whole plan.
They view it as a recruiting tool, just like slapping National Guard all over Dale Earnhardt’s car.
I agree that the league shouldn’t be charging the military for their “Salute to the Military” and then give the impression they are doing it out of the goodness of their heart.
What world are these people living in? Football players are entertainers. How stupid do you have to be, as an entertainer, to disrespect and dishonor your basic fan base?
Be prepared, folks, for your clergyperson letting loose in your Sunday sermon tomorrow, because my clergyperson ranted in the Saturday service with five comments against the President trying to crucify someone kneeling during a football game, saying, you don’t have to take it even when the President is trying to knock you down, we heard a lot of blowhard talk from world leaders but don’t worry it’s just politics, we must all be forgiving and by the way, Joel Osteen is a self-righteous pagan.
In recent days I would say that Trump is cutting his own throat, but when he picks the low hanging fruit like this he solidifies his base. My brother keeps reminding me that you can’t criticize Trump because whatever he does he comes out ahead.
I wonder how the media would react if people decided that as long as Obama was the President they wouldn’t stand for the anthem. Now everything I. The country is infected by politics. Way to go guys
They’re scared sh**less.
Not one cent of taxpayer money should go to support these idiots.
You want a stadium? Build it with your own damn money.
They’re hurriedly doing polling to see which way they should go.
The league should gave fined a game-check from every Redskins who participated in that lame-@ss “has up don’t shoot” protest. If they had we wouldn’t be here right now.
Former Giant fan here. They are now losers off the field as well as on the field.
