Millennials, Here Are 8 Remote Jobs That Pay Over $100,000
Forbes ^ | September 20, 2017 | Wes Gay

Thanks to the internet, it’s not hard to make a six-figure salary from anywhere in the world.

Our newsfeeds are filled with the anomalies, millennials who create and scale businesses that consistently generate over $100,000 in annual revenue. But that reality isn’t an option for most, and not everyone is ready to take the plunge into self-employment.

An overarching theme of Deloitte’s 2017 Millennial Survey was the desire for both flexibility and stability at work. In other words, millennials want the stability of a good, consistent paycheck but also seek flexibility in work location, hours, and the ability to move within the company.

Millennials often struggle to find stability in their salaries, as this generation has a 20 percent lower average salary than previous generations. That reality, combined with soaring student loan debt and crushing cost of living in major cities, means that a great salary is an appeal to many millennials.

The common conversation around millennials and paycheck is that the generation prefers to work for a purpose instead of a paycheck. Purpose doesn’t pay the bills, so a more accurate statement is that millennials will choose purpose over a paycheck, but they still want to get paid....

A good salesman can make many millions. But few people really want to do it.

Uh huh. The people in my office are all earning on par what we did 20 years ago before offshoring. Saw better pay days around the turn of the century.

But somehow minis are the first generation to have to deal with jobs only lasting 2-5 years and stagnant wages. Get real.

It the Age of the Snowflake. They live with Mom and Dad for 10 years after college, are only willing to take a first job if it pays six figures and allows them to work from the parents basement. This is what you get when you have Participation Trophies and don’t keep score at soccer games. Everyone’s a winner. Really? It seems to me they are mostly losers who don’t know how to function in the real world.

Joe the Plumber was making over 200K when he confronted Obama.

The only problem with plumbing is that it takes a toll physically. Met a few older, really sharp plumbers working sales after trashing their backs.

Electrician is a little easier and pays really well.

Don’t laugh. I know someone who played these video games over and over again. He played while the rest of us studied and learned engineering.
Then one day a super job came open within the company and we all applied for it.

He got the job even though he could not meet the requirements. It pays to have a daddy who schmoozes up to the higher ups inside the company.

We later figured his promotion was a “reward” for his old man’s company loyalty.

It completely destroyed any faith the rest of us had in the word of the management.

Grossly inflated. 77% of the US population does not live in the NE Corridor or California, much less the tech concentration of SV or NY/Boston.

VP, Sales 77
VP, Marketing Analytics 80
Director, Product Marketing 95
Enterprise Solutions Architect 91
Senior UX Designer 77
Channel Manager 47
Senior Software Engineer 94
Project Manager 46
Furthermore, a Millenial for a VP slot? These garbage listcicles would go away if there was a backlash pile-on.

Then again, 2DV would post obits from the Kansas City Star if he thought it would get 2 replies...yes I already know what your reply is and you already know what my response is, so don't bother...

They bust their butts to earn that kind of money too, live out of a suitcase and give up part of most weekends for travel and forgo family events. But successful results create the potential to move up and earn more. No company is going to hire some millennial for a director or VP level job in sales or marketing without that track record, and I don’t see many millennials who are willing to do it.

I wouldn’t go there unless your idea of pulling 500mil cable 200ft through bends is your definition of “easier”.

Maybe a plumbing contractor can clear that. But a sole proprietor plumber will not.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not provide specific data on master plumbers, and instead groups data from plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters. However, the BLS states that apprentices typically make 30 to 50 percent less than a journeyman or master, so this data can serve as a benchmark. In 2010, the DOL reported the average wage for this trio of trades was $22.43 per hour, or $46,660 per year. The top 10 percent earned about $79,000 per year, while the lower 10 percent brought home an annual salary of about $27,000. The average annual salary is higher than for construction trades as a whole, which has an annual average of about $38,000. Time magazine reported, via an interview with a spokesperson for a Cincinnati, Ohio-based plumbing chain, that master plumbers with five to seven years experience can earn upwards of $100,000 per year.
