Less than two weeks before Election Day, Hillary Clinton held a clear lead in the polls and it looked like her campaign was trying to run up the score just as the race was about to turn upside down.
At 12:37 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 28 with 12 days left in the election the campaign blasted out an advisory to reporters announcing that the former secretary of state would be campaigning in reliably Republican Arizona, a move that suggested her team was gunning to compete in states well beyond the battlegrounds they needed for victory against GOP nominee Donald Trump.
They had every right to be confident.
The RealClearPolitics polling average from the day before showed Clinton leading Trump nationally by nearly six points (for perspective, Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney by four points in 2012). State polls had Clinton ahead in key battlegrounds like Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Even the data team doing analytics for the Trump campaign was telling reporters that, as of Oct. 27, they had just a 15 percent chance of winning.
All this was happening while early voting was taking place in states across the country.
In retrospect, however, the race was never as stable as it appeared. A contest featuring the two most unpopular candidates in modern presidential campaign history made the political terrain unstable and more susceptible to sudden shifts.
And the ground began to move under the Clinton teams feet just 20 minutes after its Arizona announcement, with a tweet from Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, who said the FBI was looking at Clintons emails again.....

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
The media could see where she was begging for votes in the closing days (allegedly safe Dem states), while Trump was going out into Dem territory. The media knew she was in danger of losing (no clear lead), and if you see “Trumped” even early on Election Night the bigwigs at her campaign headquarters were concerned.
I scanned the report and did not find a single word about the lackluster attendance at Clinton rallies.
That dynamic shouldn’t have been ignored (though the media downplayed it deliberately); there was no enthusiasm for her because she represented the status quo to Dems who viewed the Obama presidency as delivering less than expected.
Which is why they want to do away with the Electoral College.
More excuse making from NBC cant hide the fact Hillary Clinton was the worst candidate the Democrats nominated for president in decades. She also ran of the worst presidential campaigns in history too!
Remember the photo-shopped pictures of her rallies where someone had taken a pitifully small rally in a gym and cut and pasted the same two or three people over and over again so it looked like there was a real crowd? LMAO!!!
If Creepy Clown Kaine campaigned on his own, he would literally not draw a crowd bigger than a couple of dozen. And think about what a pathetic choice he was for VP!!! It speaks volumes about Kankles’ poor judgement.
And don’t ever forget: she blew through $1.2 BILLION DOLLARS in campaign funds and still lost in an electoral landslide.
$1.2 BILLION dollars of Rat money up in smoke!!! Pile up those dollar bills into a huge pile, pour on the gasoline, and light a match. BOOM, the mother of all bonfires!! That’s how much good that $1.2 billion did for Kankles.
Bwhah hah hah hah!!!
Exactly. The election would be decided by CA,TX,FL,NY,IL,PA, OH, NC..........................other states wouldn’t have much of a say..............
Odd how that clip isn't played over and over and over...Any insight into that Mark Murray? Why wasn't that clip played every day for months? Shame maybe?
That wasn't THE moment she lost, but it was a BIG part of it. Hillary unmasked herself and she unmasked all the assh*les ‘elites’ in DC with that one 'deplorablet' comment....
We saw who YOU democrats really were - and people on the fence jumped away from Hillary and the rest of the DC scum. So, write what you want but remember: WE KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE - AND YOU'RE UGLY - MEAN SPIRITED SWAMP PEOPLE.
Check it out Mark Murray - check out the before and after ‘deplorable’ numbers. It might open your eyes.

There are many terrible reasons for President Trumps victory, but there are two things that were not a factor. First, Hillary was the perfect candidate; nothing she did harmed her candidacy in any way. Second, President Trump was the worst candidate imaginable; nothing he did helped his candidacy at all, except with racists, sexists, bigots, and the rest of the basket of deplorables.
I’m stunned that she still isn’t in a federal penitentiary.
Hillary is the most despicable person to ever crawl out of Satan’s web.
Agree. I felt elated.
James Comey gets too much credit for HRC's downfall, which was mostly on her. But photographer Zdenek Gazda gets far too little credit!
She had rallies with 10k or more, but those were actually rock concerts plus a short Hillary speech.
It's all on youtube. I watch it whenever I need cheering up. CBS is especially good, with snooty Peggy Noonan and Frank Luntz talking about why Trump lost...before he didn't. On ABC, the butthurt on George Steph's face is priceless.
It's like 10,000x funnier than the best cat video that ever was.
