McCain didn’t cause the fire on the Forrestal. And even if he did or didn’t drop his bombs on the deck, that wasn’t going to change things either way. Whether the bombs were on the wing pylon or on the deck, they were going to go off in the flames regardless.
At least you didn’t claim McCain started the fire by hotdogging with a hot start as some do.

Nonetheless, while McCain escaped the fire and explosions, his action to leave the ship without permission for R&R in Saigon even with the carrier still on fire shows how his personal priority was not helping others on board.
