Please explain why you hold McCain responsible for all those deaths.
My love of Sarah Palin absolutely blinded me, though I recall the chorus of Nam Vets who hated McCain breached my subconscious a little bit in ‘08.
That didn’t take long.
During the 2000 presidential election, my Gunner asked me what I thought of John McCain. I replied that we had no idea what the commies had done to him and that he reminded me of the movie “Telefon”. The Gunner laughed and said, “I can see it now. He becomes president, and his phone rings and he starts killing people!”
I voted for McCain for two reasons:
1.) Palin was on the ticket
2.) There was no other choice except to not vote.
Yup. McStain is one of those guys that is there when the SHTF, never suffers the consequences but is there. Fate or God saved him that day. Someday if I am lucky I will get a chance to ask God why his plan let him live. As for the fickle finger of fate, it doesn’t take questions.
Meanwhile young Charlie Guard is dead and I sincerely hope he was met at the gates with open arms.
For the very first time in my long life I am rooting for cancer.
This question would be better asked to someone who understands jet turbine engines better than I do. But from what I gather there is a “hot shot/show off” starting and ignition process that can be dangerous and they call it “Wet starting”.
Maybe there is a Veteran pilot here on FR who can explain it correctly? there several sites that explain it if you do a search. But apparently John was good about showing off using this technique and they had nicknamed him “Wet Start Johnny” from what I have read.
There are written accounts that John “wetstarted” his plane and set this fire that affected the Bombs on deck. Other posters have already linked to the documentation pertaining to this account.
I can explain it for you. Before I do, though, if I say anything you take offense to, it isn’t personal to you. I was licensed for high power turns in the USN as a Aviation Machinist’s Mate, but...have to go. Something just came up...I’ll talk later.

A CBS poll in May of 2004 had a potential Kerry McCain ticket up by 14 or more points over the chicken hawk Cheney and the AWOL National Guardsman Bush during wartime.
McCain was promised Bush White House assistance if he would stall his presidential aspirations until 2008 and decline to run with Kerry against Bush.
Steve Schmidt ran the “Swift Boat Veterans For Truth” against Kerry, under Karl Rove’s auspices to victory in 04, but only after the famous McCain-Bush “make up hug” at some rally that summer. A deal was struck for 08 for McCain.
This is why the first person McCain called hours after the ‘06 midterms, was Steve Schmidt; and Schmidt of course ran McCain's campaign, and then this same Steve Schmidt, (who by then had drafted another Bushie to “handle” Palin, Nicole Wallace, former Bush official and former Jeb Bush spokesperson) submarined Sarah Palin because she was and is a true conservative Christian and an anti-Uniparty patriot.
The Bush White House reneged on their deal with McCain because of Sarah Palin; once she was on the ticket, McCain and Palin were beating the pants off Obama, and elites cannot afford to have an actual Christian in executive power.
John McCain is, was and always will be an atomic a-hole, but if a wet start caused that Zuni rocket to launch, it was from a jet across the flight deck from McCain's.

I’ll take your word for that, I’m just going by the eye witness accounts that I have read. They are the ones to take up that discrepancy with. :)
But I have to tell you... If someone claims McCain caused an issue like this because of his arrogance, I tend to believe it.
Problem is, so many of the eyewitnesses to the wet start or whatever happened were killed.
The funniest lie about McCain is that a SAM took down his plane.

I’ll take a stab at it...
“Wetstart” sounds like an unauthorized engine start up technique to dump fuel directly into the engine for ignition, which could lead to some fuel leak out the rear end and/or cause fire plume like in an after-burning engine. If McCain was responsible for fuel and fire on the flight deck that came from his A-4 Skyhawk, it could have contributed to the fire that cooked off the explosive ordinance. So if true, “hot shot” McCain’s actions led to the carrier Forrestal’s fire disaster.

Nonetheless, while McCain escaped the fire and explosions, his action to leave the ship without permission for R&R in Saigon even with the carrier still on fire shows how his personal priority was not helping others on board.
