There’s nothing funnier to this here tech than watching non-tech people with almost no hard factual information whatsoever trying to figure out a tech problem.
I spend my workdays trying to figure out tech problems, often with no hard factual information (at least at first). After a while you get a feel for what it’s likely to be, but you’re still often wrong. Tech problems often masquerade as something unrelated. Network problems especially.
My company (where I’m a sysadmin) has a number of big database-backended applications and it’s always a scream when users with no idea what is going on try to tell us what they think is causing a slowdown or misbehavior. You just have to smile and tell them to be patient, you’re working on it.
It's the tubes. One of the tubes isn't flowing right. You just gotta figure out which one.
