He looks like Thomas Paine.
Basic wisdom would end dumb articles like this forever.
He looks cucktastic.
Many Mexicans in my last neighborhood had an income of probably $30,000 to $60,000 a year and split the $800 a month rent on a mobile home six ways. Left a ton of money for Bud Lite, tortillas and pick-up trucks.
Now you’re a 27 year old leftist who sadly has learned so little in those 12 years that your blather isn’t even worth reading.

Yup, add a part-time under the table job and its party like its 1999.
To much information. Charles Murray’s book “In Our Hands” is 100 pages. Just get rid of ALL income transfers, including SSI. American citizens only. Traffic tickets, child support, can be taken out, eliminating court costs, lawyers fees. Take away the freedom to panhandle.
A basic income will pay you the cost of inflation which is not the fantasy world on the Unicorn Farm. Instead, you will be in the same poverty you thought you were leaving.
Like Keynesian economics, basic income is a policy that serious economists need to investigate thoroughly and not be given the empty Unicorn dreams I waded though in this piece by Dylan Matthews.
There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.
Apparently Mathews has learned nothing. He’s still part of the something-for-nothing crowd.
Dear nitwit,
No, it will not.
Poverty will simply be redefined. The income will be deemed "insufficient to meet basic necessities" and we will be off again.
How do I know?
Real true poverty is totally unknown in the US. Yes, even among the homeless.
Congratulations! We have succeeded in getting rid of poverty. Except you just redefined what poverty is.
And so here we are.
Quite frankly I am tired of hearing the same old "bright new idea" from the same imbeciles decade after decade.
Please remove yourself forthwith to a place of great heat.

12 years, and the guy still thinks like a 15 year old, with a slightly larger vocabulary.

You get that many people who have a basic income will not work. Especially if health care comes along with it. You will add to violence and gangs and drugs. You will have people working for cash. You will have permanent underclass and it will be larger than anything we have now.
The reality is that we have a certain amount of people who work because they have to. If those people don’t need the money they will not work. And especially if they are under 30 they will never work. Crime will go up because these people will have lots of time on their hands but not enough money to do anything. Many will spend everything on the first day of the month or week, whenever their check comes in. They will be destitute again it will just start the second or third day of the month.
And to pay for those who choose not to work there will be those who do. And if they have to pay too much so that others do nothing, then even more will not work.
I think we are toying with the ideas that we have tried and tossed away over 50 years ago. I have a theory about humanity. it goes like this; There is nothing so stupid that humanity won’t try it...twice. The Eva Peron want-to-bes who have decided this is a good idea, need a lesson in history as well as economics. I suggest a field trip to Venezuela Greece and Cuba to start.
Anyone who managed to wade through that entire river of leftist effluent, please raise your hand. You deserve special Freeper recognition for your trouble.
does this whole idea of "letting" people out of work anger anyone besides me?...
I'm 63 and still work, part time, a hard job....
please, someone "let" me out of work and pay my bills for free....I'll be waiting...
Your “Basic Income” would come from everyone who pays taxes and then you could get high all day and deond on the rest of us going to work everyday.
BTW, we already have a welfare system. That ain’t enough for you to live on?
You need a caretaker....and a butterfly net...
See the Mayflower Compact ....
I tried to read it but, had to go to the bathroom and take a basic income....
