I just got back to the Philly burbs from around Camp Lejeune and as usual turned on the only country station available. Two seconds later it was off. Well, I went online and found a great station and wanted to share it with y'all.
I'm a bookmark hoarder so I thought I'd ask for your help for when I need to listen to some good stuff. OutlawNation has a perfect variety.
I use Pandora alot... lots of different artists there. There is a channel for nearly everyone. I listen to Lefty a lot, but they also throw in a bunch of similar artists as well... i’ve heard stuff i’ve never heard before there...
Maybe off topic, but so many radio stations, of varying formats, have such tight playlists, that it gets so repetitive after a while.
I listen to some satellite radio stations, which play a much greater variety, than some of the terrestrial radio stations.
As to why radio stations choose to play such a tight playlist, anyone know? Especially if it turns off some listeners such as me? I’m sure I’m not the only one to turn off terrestrial radio due to so many commercials and lack of variety in music played.
The Highway on satellite radio, good new country. Channel fifty something, it’s always on so I forget the number.
Yep. Since I am a new convert to country, about three years now, I just like the new stuff. But yeah, the Highway has been and remains my gateway drug.
Outlaw Country - Sirius XM channel 60 - excellent mix of both old and “newish” country.
I’ve only been listening for about 20 yrs. The twang used to make me laugh when I was a kid but I’ve slowed down since then. LOL
The stations are almost all owned by 6 big companies. They probably have contracts with the artists and want to sell the music and make money with ads.
Thanks!
Outlaw Country is my type of C&W too!
Pandora and Spotify are amazing. I’ve been trying Tidal lately, but prefer the first two. I do wish they had some additional flexibility to create personalized playlists that mix genres for you. Pure 100% country or 100% bluegrass or 100% folk get tiring.
wow. love the line up on the link page. I’m awful with names of songs or artists.
...Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks!
Death to “Bro’ Country”.
Yea KHYI is usually pretty good with their music options. Sunday morning is gospel music, and Sat morning is a horse talk show, but otherwise they usually play some good country. Used to be all local ads, though the last year or two they’ve gotten some more national ad stuff, so that’s meh. Still have the older ones at least, Rockwall deer processing, Kelly Crowson (Gallagher now), Bubba’s chicken, etc. And, they even have my high school’s football games on on Friday nights!
I don’t think they have much online presence, but 95.9 the Ranch out in Ft Worth is pretty good too.
Thanks, I’m stuck here for a while and definitely need down time for sanity.
Amen! A slide guitar in a rap song doesn’t make it “country”.
That video sums it up nicely, thanks for sharing.
Give me some Hank, Waylon or Johnnie...
A fine weekend to you both.
