CNN political analyst Kirsten Powers is hitting back at critics of her network's decision to warn an anonymous Reddit user he could be exposed if he resorted to "ugly behavior" on the internet again.
"People do not have a right to stay anonymous so they can spew their racist, misogynist, homophobic garbage," she argued in a series of tweets to her nearly 250,000 followers on Thursday.....

Background Checks for Guns isn’t enough, now they want Background Checks for Opinions.
I would argue there is much more of a right for the concerned public to publish their personal information, since they do far, far much more damage than any one individual does by writing something “racist, misogynist, homophobic garbage”.
It is what liberals do, but if they go down this road, no problem with their information becoming public.
Would be willing to bet Kirstin is one who would go to jail to protect an anonymous source.
Anonymity for me but not for the!
Soooooo...
A GIF-formatted meme of Trump whipping “CNN” butt is somehow racist, mysoginist, homophobic?
“Nuke the Internet from Orbit. It’s the only way to be sure”.
Kirsten Powers
Right. Not like the “Trump hired a bunch of Russian prostitutes to urinate in unison with him on a bed slept in by Barack Obama” “news” that CNN put out.
Yes. Yes, they do. People do have a right to be anonymous online and people do have a right to say racist or unpleasant things. Why do you think freedom of speech, give from Gd, is something you can control? (To the CNN shmuck)
Our only exemption on freedom of speech is speech that incites to violence or panic that could hurt people. Calling fire in crowded theaters.
This is the wrong issue they need to brush up on, legally. Because here’s what will destroy them: their BLACKMAILING
“But Antifa thugs can wear masks, threaten everyone in sight, and violently attack whomever they please, whenever they please. And CNN has no problem with that?”

GREAT point! I hope someone mentions this to Kirsten.
.
Love it!
Awesome response.
But the media CONSTANTLY holds itself out as quasi-government and specifically wraps itself in the 1st Amendment when attacked for inventing news stories out of whole cloth.
Thus it must be held to the same standard as government. It cannot violate the constitutional rights of the people and that includes THEIR 1st Amendment rights (as well as the others).
If an organization controlled the water supply, it would be a government. If it controlled the land, it would be a government. If it controlled the food, it would be a government.
These media people in New York control information. It is the lifeblood of a functional Republic, and they have been tainting it for political gain.
The effective monopoly they posses needs to be broken.
That would require intelligence, which is not a factor at CNN.
Great Response.
She’s stupid.
The First Amendment trumps one’s right to remain anonymous.
The person in question posted a humorous (humorous to all but the most thin skinned CNNophile) gif.
CNN, after being offended by the gif, dug through the person's posting history and apparently found that he made some seedy posts in the past. I have no idea what these seedy posts were, but if one researched my posts they'd be similarly offended:
"Homophobic"? - 'Phobic' is the wrong word. Perhaps disgusted, and pitied would be better. I agree that there are probably valid fears about the spread of noxious diseases, and those that would prey on children, but by and large homosexuals are to be pitied. Homosexuality is a sin that is to be mourned, and not celebrated.
"Misogynist"? - Man and Woman are both made in the image of God, however Women are not allowed to be Preachers in a Church, and Men are supposed to provide Godly rule over their households. I'm sure this would rate a check mark in the misogynist column.
"Racist"? - We are all descended from Adam and Eve (and Noah and Mrs. Noah - and their son's wives) - but since the Media likes to pretend Islam is a race, and to pretend that standing for obeying the law (i.e., protecting the Nation's borders) is racist - then sure, I have posts that qualify as racist...
So what is this dust that Powers is throwing up into the air? The 'offense' in question was posting a humorous gif, and apparently that gave Powers' chums the right to unmask the poster and dig through his previous posts. A very Orwellian crackdown by the self-designated Thought Police.
