I second that for the same reasons and I was a Cruz supporter until he politically stuttered when attacked by Trump. He has not the fortitude for the supreme political job. As a Justice he would be insulated from most o that and his Constitutional instincts seem to be solid. My only caveat is that I fear he would be a vote for amnesty.

We can hope he stays for a vigorous 30 more years but the likelihood is a bit less than that.
If we get the Court 8-1 or even 9-0 and the Democrats get the Presidency again the Court will simply be pushed aside and will cease to be relevant or, just as likely, 6 or more justices will have fatal accidents or health events in a two year span. The reality is that if the Democrats get back into power the Revolution will be completed and will swiftly move to shut down any institutions that might thwart them.
