Ice Cube appeared on Bill Maher's HBO show on Friday (June 9), where he addressed Maher for referring to himself as a "house n****r" in a previous episode. The veteran rapper got serious with Maher when he asked him, "What made you think it was ok to say that?"
Cube went on to say that it's very hurtful to him anytime a white person says the n-word, even if he says they didn't mean it. He explained, Its like a knife, man. When I hear my homies say it, it dont feel like venom. When I hear a white person say it, its like a knife. Cube then added, Thats our word now, and you cant have it back.
Check out an excerpt from the show above.
Pretty much.
Some perfunctory finger-wagging, and they all move back to going crazy because someone on the right said something really evil like people should stop obsessing about race.
“That’s our word now”. It’s us versus them in everything now. Sad.
Redneck is the answer. It’s a role, not a race. An honorable role.
“Nigger” is a role of substandard living for the kicks of it. That is wrong to wish on your fellows even of color. God deserves better.
It’s wallowing in venom turned into an intoxicant. A reconciliation should entail black and white races agreeing: no more “niggers”!
Is it logic at all?
If Obama used it, which he apparently refrained from while in office, it would be 7/8 of a knife.
Anyhow I think I understand. This is a far cry from the liberation sentiments of the older NAACP which was a Republican idea.
I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people;
and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.
And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.
I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.

Abraham Lincoln

Sometimes the need for identity can transcend logic.
[it would be 7/8 of a knife]
good catch
Lincoln dimly saw the spiritual problems with the mixing of peoples who either didn’t want or had reason to be ashamed of the occasion of their mixing.
AA should be a pan-Christian movement. Not a government program.
What is the date of that statement? Like many statesmen, Lincoln “evolved.”
That is their word now? Do they even know what they are doing to themselves? I do not think they even know by using that word just for them brings them lower.
Did Ice Cube ever say the “N” word? Then it’s OK for Maher to say it. It’s either legal or it ain’t. The law, the first amendment applies to ALL EQUALLY!
As I said — it is non-logic.
Maher might kid back that he is the house redneck. That might break the Cube’s ice.
Based on narrow mindedness, on illiberal “liberalism.”
;)
1858
In 1865 on April 11, Lincoln gave a speech where he said he intended to give blacks the vote.
Booth was in attendance and decided on that day that Lincoln wouldn’t be making anymore speeches.
He acted 3 days later.
Let’s try that again - corrected - oops
[He explained, Its like a knife, man. When I hear my homies say it, it dont feel like venom. When I hear a white person say it, its like a knife. Cube then added, Thats our word now, and you cant have it back.]
What if Obama uses it? Is it 87.5% of a knife?
I see. Ice Cube decides if it was OK based upon ........ the color of someones skin?
How racist.
