Steel toe vs .45 results in a painful experience. Originally this story was talked about on a gun forum. Here's the excerpt from the thread: "This guy and his co workers were discussing whether a steel toe boot would withstand a round from a .45, so what do do you think would be the best way to test this theory? YUP, you guessed it."
You'd think this person would try this out without having to wear the boot.
It doesn't take a smart person to guess it would be a bad idea to shoot your steel-toed boot, hoping it'll stop a .45 caliber bullet. Read the rest of the steel toe story here.
I guess it was a good thing he wasn’t wearing a hard hat.
Odd,the nail did not blacken? Yet.
Any idea of the geographic location?
The wound appears to be cleaned and some time after the event.
Is he on 0bamacare and waiting for his personal physician to return from a vacation?
Or at least identifying them with a limp.
Did he say “Here! Hold my Beer”? He sounds like one of Jeff DunHams characters.
Based on the picture, it looks like the idiot shot where the steel plate ends.
“Limping towards the Galapagoskeep it up and hell find Darwin eventually.”
BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA!
I was thinking NW Indiana.
From what I see in the photograph it IS through the steel toe cap. If you happen to notice the texture of the leather changes at the end of the cap, this is typical of most used steel toe boots. After a fair amount of use, they will show the demarcation quite well. This shows the rediculous nature of part of the masses, in thinking a government mandated item has lots of safety/security involved. Steel toes don’t protect from large force. Years ago I saw a boot, actually it was passed around that had been involved in intentionally attempting to stop a piece of rolling pipe, it severed the foot at the end of the cap, about the front 1/3. Leather wasn’t even torn. They shouldn’t be trusted to stop much more than a dropped hammer.
I can’t believe we went 29 comments before somebody said, “Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!”
OK - I’ll take the bullet and say it.
