Trump vows to fight Freedom Caucus just as he fights the Democrats

Defeat from the jaws of victory

You know what their response is going to be, of course. They’re going to complain that the White House and the leadership are putting forth terrible bills that don’t really repeal ObamaCare but institutionalize government-run health care for generations. I’ve already told you why I don’t agree with them, and Rob’s already told you why he does.

So let’s skip all that and see what Trump himself has to say about the matter:

Ken Buck’s op-ed wasn’t great.
It was mindless cheerleading.
It did not say one thing about why or how Ryancare was going to get rid of Obamacare.

But its dialog. If no one’s talking nothing’s getting done.

Trump wanted this bill partially because it would have let him credit the savings and get better tax reform. It was clearly not the bill he was hoping for. He tried to sell it because that’s the team player thing to do but he made it clear that if it didn’t work for the American people by the time it hit his desk he wouldn’t sign it.

If you believe the CBO predictions are WAG and this bill give him political cover with CBO to allow for the improved tax cuts that’s a good thing, part of unwinding the government stranglehold.

There is certainly trust in Trump involved because Ryan’s bill is a real piece of garbage as it stands. I think Trump was angry because the conservatives didn’t step up to the plate and help get it tuned up & passed. Now some seem to be a little more ready to work. We will see.

Trump is proposing the first actually budget in almost a decade; the last time the Democratic-led Senate passed a budget was on April 29, 2009. I’m hoping that this street fighting attitude will get it passed.

Everything Trump wants to do is going to be fought tooth and nail, nothing is going to be easily won. Thank God he’s a tenacious, cunning, ballsy man who loves his country and loves winning.

It looked to me like he just wanted the “win” and did not care that it would cement in place the worst of Obamacare and in fact make other parts worse.
He wanted anything to pass so he could move on to the tax cuts.
In some ways I wish they had passed this POS to the Senate for them to make even worse, which they would have. Problem is then it would have a momentum all its own and more pressure to just pass it no matter how bad it was.

Maybe so I can’t disagree completely. I think he thought it would be improved or he wouldn’t sign it.

I have been looking into the Freedom Caucus rather than being a cheerleader either way. This was an interesting detailed article though from polico which leads me to believe they got drunk with power and didn’t act in their constituents interests:

I don’t know the rest of the Freedom Caucus, but I do know Dave Brat. We worked extremely hard to be rid of the weasel Eric Cantor and Dave Brat is rock solid and is doing exactly what he told us he would do.
Some people act like they would have been happier if we had left the weasel Eric Cantor in place so the Uniparty eunuchs could have passed Rubio’s amnesty in June of 2014 taking that issue off the table to clear the way for Yeb! as planned.
There would have been no President Trump after amnesty was done.
Eric Cantor would have voted for Ryancare, though.

I celebrated Cantor’s loss! Good on Dave Brat.

When are decisions going to determined based on the American people and what they have asked for in electing this Pres. and not on what politician is or not going to pick up seats in congress etc.???????? I'm sick to death of "their" games....they are just as ineffective now as they always have been...and they have the full court on their side!!! It's absolutely disgusting!!!

...”There’s not enough votes for a straight stand alone repeal vote”....

And we know perfectly well why that is..and it’s not Trump...they’re pulling the same crap they always have...and trying to suck Trump into their cesspool.

It’s worse than nonsense.....I don’t know why I ever thought the Republicans just might do now what’s been asked of them...especially since they have the full court....including the Pres. we brought to lead them.

Their a disgusting bunch of corrupt a-holes concerned with nothing more than themselves and I’ve had it!

Once obombacare collapses there are going to be a lot of Americans hurt by it. Or if you just pull it out from under their feet without a plan to handle the displacement, many voters are going to be hurt. In ether case, the dems will run on single payer in 2018 and in my opinion they will win on that issue alone. When people panic they look for the easiest escape rout. I hope I don't have to explain to you what another 8 years of obumber or hillary would do to this country.
