There is no way, no way, to fix health care in this nation until at least 60% of the population can face reality.

The demographics are against us and there's nothing that any politician can do about it. There's just too many Baby Boomers turning 70 who need massive amounts of health care and not enough young, healthy people to foot the bill. Oh, and all these Baby Boomers vote, too.

Here's what I predict is going to happen: If you are young and healthy, you get health care. If you are young and sickly, you get health care too. Thank the healthy people. If you are over 65, you get palliative care. You had a good run. If you can afford it, feel free to fly to Thailand or India for medical procedures but you're on your own.

I was a Personnel Officer in the Army for awhile.

At lower level staffs, the Personnel Officer deals with medical issues.

I was introduced to the term “triage”.

In a big fight, the medical people would have too many casualties to deal with all at the same time.

The medical people set a priority for dealing with the wounded.

I came to notice that patients are always triaged.

Take care of yourself so that you can help take care of your family so that they can help take care of your neighbors so they can help take care of your city and on and on.

First, take care of yourself.

And “help take care of” doesn’t mean to become a slave to.

Albert Brooks wrote a book called 2030 that (somewhat) realistically deals with a world in which cancer is cured a fat-reducing pill are introduced to America in the late 2010s.

Basically, by 2030, all the Baby Boomers are still alive and still getting all their Medicare and Social Security Benefits.

Eventually everyone under 40 starts looking for a way out of endlessly paying for their parents to live the high life.
